It is easy to beat it. The 128GB Plextor M5P is $130, with a 5-year warranty, better performance, 8GB extra space, and no Sandforce garbage to put up with.

I agree, my first 4 SSD's were all Intels. After my experiences with Sandforce drives, I will
not have another - even if it is an Intel.

Indilinx vs sandforce, Which controller would be better, I decide to be more cheaptard now, I am getting OCZ agility 3 much cheaper than corsiar GT and force 3.

sorry folks.

So based on everything you went with OCZ? You must be deaf, blind, and ...

Good luck with that garbage.

hi all,

I m planning to get my first ssd and worried which one to go for.

As I have reviewed tones of reviews I am very much concerned abt ssd failure. I have 3 ssd short listed

Corsiar force GT 120GB 130-135$
Corsiar force 3 120GB 120$
OCZ Vertex 4 128GB 150$

amongst the above the OCZ is the most expensive, and there is only 10-15$ difference in both the corsair's here in India. ppl plz help me out with the reviews and suggestions. The crucial and plexter's are still not available in India and the samsung's 830 is much expensive then the above listed three. I am open to any new recommendations within my budget of 120$ and ssd's available in India.

Thanks a lot...

SSDs do not die they just degrade over time which you can check with Crystal.

OCZ is not the most stable solid SSD, Vertex 4 changes that apparently.

So grab the OCZ its the fastest on the list and hopefully they have some good firmware so it doesn't degrade or lose data.

This. Have two OCZ Vertex 1 (even pre-Sandforce drives) and one of them has just been crap. Several flashes to update buggy firmware (almost all requiring erasure) and one kept dropping. The machine would just no longer see the drive. Also found out that OCZ changed the NAND they were using at some point to a lower nm process thereby reducing the lifetime writes of the drive, without informing anyone, of course.

Thought I had all my issues solved and had my drives in a RAID 0 array. Tried re-installing windows the other day and my controller says one of the drives has an error. Reboot, drive is now no longer recognized. Could try to set the jumper and destructive flash it, but I'm tired of this thing. Don't know if it's the firmware or the NAND has finally given out. Don't really care either, an 830 is on the way and I won't have to deal with OCZ's destructive flashes and RMAs anymore. Just check their forums, you'll see.

I will once again say what I posted before:

Look around you, in this forum. You'll see people swear by three brands/models alone: Crucial M4, Samsung 830/830, and previous-gen Intel (I hear rumblings about the newer stuff).

Everything else is a gamble.
Why would you even ask this question, then? Go ahead, be cheap, it's only your data, and we need guinea-pigs to post their horror stories here.

As for speed, man... just WHAT kind of data transfers are you doing? Do you really think that, in real life, the transfer rate difference will be noticeable?

Hmm, why does this thread remind me of a horror movie: noise in the basement when there is a killer on the loose? Let's go down there and check! Oh, the light's out. No worries!

Some people like to gamble, and, some cannot see that many times, the cheaper product is more expensive.

XMAS SSD purchase coming up for me pretty soon--thank you Anita and other posters for the help.

Carlos Mencia has a song for you. Just wait until that ocz passes 25% capacity. Why ask questions and then ignore the answers?
