I got the Labtec Lcs-2414's for $45 Canadian at Staples and they kick, I was surpised at how well they sound and how good the bass is. I strongly
recommend getting them.

You'll be pleasently surpised at the sound and quality they offer. They can also go relatively loud without distorting,
There perfect for listening to mp3's and games, you won't be disapointed. :D

Personally I'd try the Altec Lansing ACS33

I've used the ACS54 which is the 4 speaker version of the 33, and it was pretty decent for a $100 4point set. The 2points are $57.99

But of the two you mentioned, the Labtec, the Logitech sub has no power.

I say go with the acs54 system. You can get them for as low as 55 bucks in US dollars. I don't know what that is in Canadian though. The acs 54 is a perfect 4 point surround gaming and music system. The sub is nice and powerful for its size. I got the acs56 system because I wanted power galore, but for 87 US dollars, it was an excellent buy. I love these speakers. They are very powerful and wonderful at everything. I know a guy with the cambridge fps2000 speakers and they are pitiful in power compared to mine. The only thing I dislike about the speakers is a little hiss noise when no sound is going through them. It is not noticeable though. But if you are trying to read or something with silence, you will probably want to turn the speakers off.

For my needs, space and budget the Altec Lansing ACS33's were perfect and really can rock. Paid $70CDN 3 months ago. The ACS45.2's were $100 at the time and have a bass control on the sub... may cost less now. You will be happy happy with either of these 2 systems. :)

1.52! That means that the limit for FrogDog is only 40 bucks US. That won't get you too much, but the acs33s are very good. I used to own a pair. But I strongly suggest saving up 30 more CDN dollars and getting the acs54 set. The acs54s have a more powerful sub and more powerful speakers with an extra 2 also.

i have some acs33s, i like em for the price i paid for em (~US$30) but i got some klipsch promedias, huge difference compared to the 33s, but i have the 33s on my p2 266 and i play mp3s on em sometimes, just the sub doesnt seem to do much compared to the klipsch sub

the sub on the acs33 is pretty darn weak. If you want to shake your room, let alone your house, you won't do much. You might be able to feel a shake if you put the sub on your desk and touch the desk.

the advice has been pretty good, but there is no way the acs54's are more powerful than the fps2000 by cambridge soundworks. even if you look at the specs for each speaker system, it's ridiculous to say that the fps2000's are not as powerful or whatnot. just an opinion - but i've always liked cambridge over altec lansing.

well, duh, the acs54 speakers won't be more powerful than the fps2000s, BUT the acs56 set, which I said, does beat out the fps2000 set. Notice the difference between acs 54 and acs 56.

I owned the acs33 set before, but I returned it for being not up to my needs. I also have the acs 45.2 set and I thought they were awesome. The sub is great and everything, but I started looking for surround sound so I bought the acs56 set and LOVE them. They are great, and especially for 87 bucks USD. I am so glad I never succombed to the temptation to pay "only" 200 bucks more for a set of klipsch speakers. I mean, come on! I would much rather get a new processor or graphics card with 300 bucks. Or better yet, 256 mb ram and still have a bit of cash left over!
