I am in the market for a new sound card and wanted to know which one has digital out. I want to hook it up to a minidisc player. Thanks!

Thanks all,

I received the Sony MZ-R70PC as a gift. It includes the USB PCLink but it only record in analog. I was planning on skipping it and using the TOSLink cable connected to the digital out of the sound card. BTW does that include the Live! Value card. Thanks again.

TOSlink cable is optical out... MD recorder/players accept the miniplug, so you'll need a cable with TOSlink on one ened, and a miniplug or miniplug adapter on the other end, since almost everything else uses a TOSlink. You can get the Platinum 5.1 (soundblaster) which comes with the Live!Drive IR with optical output in front, or just get a soundblaster live! value and get a Hoontech (hoontech.com) add-on card for another 20 bucks...

The Philips Acoustic Edge has digital in and out, but no optical. The only card that has toslink connectivity that I know of is the SB Live 5.1 with the Live Drive.

I have a hoontech card hooked up to my SB Live MP3+ and the optical out on that card works great.

The Vortex2 superquad has Optical out and the Xitel Soundcard does too, but I dont think any computer optical outs have auto tracking like cd player optical outs, I know my superquad doesnt, but I think those Xitel DG1's are capable of doing digital tracks!

The Aopen AW744 Pro has an optical output, you can get it at mwave.com for $35 shipped, and it comes with an optical cable and a mini plug converter.

for $35 shipped with a cable and converter, it can't be beat.

Other card that contain toslinks:
SbLive! Platinum 5.1
Sblive! (any series) with a hoontech add-on card
Aureal SuperQuad PCI OEM (only works in windows9x for most people), can find for about $40, but without cable.
