Well... it's fixed.
I tried to reload 5.0.8, but apparently 5.95.1 plugins caused the interface to blow up and it kept reloading the interface over and over. Fortunately, it had connected to the network. I uploaded the 5.95.1 to teh update folder and rebooted and it loaded that software. Then it booted up.
So then, I ran the equivalent of a factory reset on it (Openelec clear settings I think it was called), then reloaded 5.0.8 which worked without issue.
Reconfigured the share directory, and tried the same clip as before and no green lines. What an ordeal, but it is finally done.
No worries on the keyboard. At this point, it is simply a PITA to drag a USB keyboard over and sit down on the carpet and look up at the screen and try to work on things. It's even more of a pain to unhook everything and drag it over to a desk. At this point, the $25 for the K400 was worth it. It's just big enough to not be a bear to type with, and has the trackpad built in so I don't have to drag a mouse around with me. I may still load Kodibuntu over the weekend and see what I can get out of that, but for now, I am leaving this alone.
