I'm gonna go with 'You can't make all of the people happy all of the time'

Journey did what they had to do if they wanted to continue making music and I think they lucked out finding Arnel....

So what was the rest of the band supposed to do when Steve didn't want to do that hip replacement surgery that prevented the band from touring? I think they waited almost 2 years before telling Steve to get the surgery or they would get a new singer...

No love for Gregg Rolie? :p
When i think of Journey i think Steve Perry but i grew up in that era. Though i am liking Revelation, Disc 1 anyway.

Wonder if he hangs out with that guy who sung for Van Halen between David Lee Roth and Sammy Hagar... :)

I don't think many people remember that guy either...

C'mon, no comparison when it comes to the crotch rocket necessary to front a band like that. Look at the definition in the Perry video. Panties literally falling off in the crowd.

Pineda is an amazing vocalist. And he's been in the band for 12 years. I'd say they both are, tbh.

Nobody would argue that Haggar is any less the voice of VH than Roth.

You should take some time and listen to Arnel and YES they found him on you tube. Think about it for minute -- they searched far and wide and could not find what they were looking for in a singer! The voice, being able yto sing a balad, being able to sing in the same vocal register as Perry, being an entertainer. They were very lucky to find somebody who Stece Perry even admits is the new face/voice of Journey!1 Well not so new now...lolol

Even though I like Arnel, the last time we saw them (touring with Def Leppard), you could tell Journey was wore out from the tour.. arnel is usually bouncing all over the stage but he wasn't that night....

I think their Dallas stop was the last date on the tour actually...but Def Leppard kicked ass that night...

Not denying that he's a great singer but it was the Perry period that made Journey 'famous'

i really hate Journey though, Red Wings tried to make Don't Stop Believing to be some kinda 'anthem' for the Wings

Perry. You should have asked a tougher question, like whether Peter Gabriel or Phil Collins was the better frontman for Genesis.

Its called starting another group and get a different name. There are a lot of bands in asia that copy groups here. They sound very close to the original band. should we call them the same name as the original band? I say if the group started it = they own it. Some group in asia even lip sync to the songs from the singers here.

They copy everything in asia. Even singers!!!

The problem is that you leave out one important fact -- Armnel sounds freakin good!!! I do not see why you made this about race....
There are some excellent Asian singers!

not sure what the point of your post is...we aren't even in Asia...

Journey had already made themselves know world wide and Neil Schon was the founding member so he definitely had the rights to keep the name...why on earth would they start over with a new name that they would have to build up again? that makes no sense

Gregg Rolie was the lead singer on Journey's first three albums. He was the lead singer and co-founder in Santana's band as well as being in the Rock Hall twice, with Santana as well as Journey.

I watched the one video (Don't Stop Believing) posted with Arnel singing. Good singer, but sounds like he's forcing it and over singing. Perry sounded more natural. Perry made those songs famous and playing Karaoke with someone else's songs is generally never better.

4 of the 5 members would still be in the band (including the original founder) if they got a new singer when Perry did not want to do the hip surgery ...

I think you should really stop using these Asian examples in this thread...
