Which shipper do you use?

I just got off the phone with the Post Office. I have a package waiting that requires signature (DC and insurance). I cannot make it to this branch by 5 because of work <gasp>. This branch is not open on Saturday, but the one down the street is. However, the PO refuses to transfer the package to any other branches for any reason! The only way I can get the package is to take a day off from work and go there during normal business hours. They will not let anyone else from my address pick up the package for me, only someone with same last name, so I had to file a complaint with their consumer affairs office. In any case, this package is probably going back to the sender unless I can persuade my boss to let me have the day off, which would be a small miracle.

Since I already disklike UPS treatment of customers, I chose not to use them. How is Fedex? Do they deliver on weekends?

Next time have your package sent to your workplace or make alternative arrangements beforehand. The signature requirement is not to make your life hard -- it's there for protection of the buyer, shipper, and USPS.

I've never had to sign for a USPS package before
Ever.
Even with Delivery Confirmation and Insurance

I have to sign for Fedex packages all the time though

The lady at the 800 number said DC and insurance required a signature. I can only go by the information that they give. FYI, I cannot have packages sent to my workplace, I already tried that option. But it is against company policy. My complaint is in their office hours, with which any normal person would have a problem (anyone who works a normal business day). I wouldn't mind if they would shift the package to the ONE branch that is open on the weekend, but they won't do that. Exactly how does the USPS expect working people to get packages that require a signature?

Thanks for voting :)

:D

I noticed a general slowdown in mail. Letters are taking longer overall, may have to do with the backlog of mail from Sept. 11, I don't know.

What kind of stripper is named Fedex?

USPS is fastest AND cheapest IMO. UPS is slow and has lost and destroyed lots of my packages, so I refuse to use them anymore. FedEx is good, but pricey.

Priority mail.
USPS
FedEx

After my last bout with UPS I don use them or buy from those who do.

Just look at NewEgg and FedEx for good incoming service.

<< no one answered the question, does FedEx deliver on weekends? >>

fedex and UPS offer saturday service, for an additonal charge

but...here's a little known fact. if an item is sent friday, overnight guaranteed next business day, no saturday delivery specified, you may still get it saturday.

reason: fedex drivers still go out for saturday deliveries and the shipments for monday are sometimes available. they will have to deliver it at some point or another, but since saturday is slow, they may deliver then, as opposed to the monday rush. i've had fedex stuff delivered saturday without any additional cost to the shipper.

probably because fedex charges more than anybody else.
