Which set of memory is best for OC?

RAM dividers are your friends. Other than that? I've never heard of Gigaram, maybe they haven't made it to the civilised world yet (Europe).

I'm not too familiar with RAM dividers as I'm just getting into OC'ing.

But I know that the memory used makes a difference.

Could you explain what you mean by your statement about RAM dividers?

Thx

The way a RAM divider works is to run the RAM at a different speed to the CPU's FSB while the FSB is running @ 250 the RAM can be run @ 200. So to overclock the CPU you don't need to overclock the RAM. Of course it's best if you can OC the RAM too, but it's not required and the performance increase isn't huge (some, but not huge).

why not some G.SKILL 2x1gb DDR500 ram for $157? i'm sure this will own both sticks you chose

That's fine but I"m not buying memory. I have these two sets. I have two computers, one is for server duties and the other is my gaming rig. I want to OC the gaming rig some but I don't want to buy anything.

Just trying to choose which set of RAM to use

Ok so just out of the two sets of Ram i showed which one would you use? Never mind the brand, just base it off of the timings

I need help deciding between the two sets I have.

Why is this so hard???

Um, just try out both. Set multiplyer lower and boost the FSB until it craps out and won't load. Then switch ram and try it again. Whichever gets higher, is better. Problem solved.

KoolDrew may be at fault but i was the first to tell you to buy something any no post prior to mine mentioned anything about you owning those two sets so why don't you stop whining and fix your OP

i agree with this post. if for some odd reason you're not comfortable testing both, use the Mushkin. if you look at reviews, the mushkin has some decent ones but the gigarams report too many problems. might as well use the safer ram when overclocking

Maybe read the first post more carefully?

"I know neither sets of these are great for Overclocking but this is all I have atm: "

Anyway, I decided to use gigaram for now since it has lower CAS. I guess if it doesn't work out i'll try the mushkin
