I'm going to get the following:

Seagate Cheetah X15, 36.7 GB, Ultra160 Wide LVD SCSI-3, 15,000 RPM, 3.9 ms seek, 4 MB cache, A/V rated, 3.5" LP, 68 pin interface, 5-year warranty.

Quantum Atlas 10K II "Typhoon" 9.2 GB Ultra160 Wide LVD SCSI-3, 10,000 RPM, 4.7 ms seek, 8 MB cache, A/V Rated, 3.5" LP, 68 pin interface, 5-year warranty.

With this as an adapter:

Tekram DC-390U3D, dual channel Ultra160 LVD SCSI-3, Symbios/LSI 53c1010 chipset, 64-bit PCI PnP, busmastering transfer protocol, up to 30 targets, internal connectors: IDC 50(M), two Mini DB68(F) SE/LVD U2/LVD U160, external connectors: two VHDCI DB68(F) SE/LVD U2/LVD U160, retail kit includes: two 5-position Mini DB68(M) PVC insulated twisted to flat ribbon cables, 3-position IDC 50(F) PVC insulated flat ribbon cable, two internal SE/LVD Mini DB68(F) terminators, external Mini DB50(F) bracket, manuals and driver CD-ROM, 5-year warranty.

Which cables should I use?

Read the manuals that come with the adapter and it will be intuitively obvious to he most casual observer.

68 pin LVD cable with LVD terminator.

Connect the black wire to the engine block instead of the battery.
