heh ya I know its kinda simple, but i'm tired/confused/broke.

I have an UltraPLex Wide CDROM 68pin, a CHeetah 36lp 68pin u160, and a adaptec 39160 controller. Which cables do I need, and where to buy, I see on one site a cable for 30-50 bucks, and seemingly the same cable somewhere else for ~$13. Payin 50 bucks for a cable seems like a little much since I only have 2 devices .. hm well if anyone could clear up my confusion (and maybe send me a link to where to buy, yes I have read a bunch of online store "scsi guides" but none say "if you have this type, buy this" .. basically) well thanks

Your controller is dual channel. It would be best for you to connect the hard drive to one channel and the CDRom to the other. For the hard drive, you need an LVD cable with a terminator on the end. Like the first cable listed on this page. For the CD-ROM, connect that to the other channel on your controller with a standard 68-pin SCSI cable without terminator (you set the termination via a jumper on the CD-ROM drive itself). Any of the last 3 cables listed on that page will work, just depends on how many device connectors you want.

I just linked to MWave to show you how the proper cables are described. You can get them from many sources.

$30-50 is just about right for an LVD cable w/terminator.
