Dish's prices and channels > DirectTV

However, if you're into NFL stuff, you have to go DirectTV.

I think Dish is like $5 or so cheaper than Directv, but don't they have around the same channels?

Also, I'm not a big sport buff so the HD would pretty much be the only premium content I would be ordering.

had directv, they wouldn't give an HD box, so with went with dish. hated every minute of it, 6 months later, back to directv with free hd box

Will Directv give you a free HD DVR now or just the HD receiver for new sign ups?

You can get the DVR for free.

Nope. the HD-DVR is $99 and you are only leasing it. Kinda sucks but I went ahead and ordered it anyway.
Did you click the link? They give up an instant rebate which makes it free. Yes you are leasing it, that's the way it is with them now, unless you pay full price for the box.

I'm not sure where you're looking, but the HD DVR is $99 after a $100 rebate. The regular DVR is free after rebate.

Get the one with the biggest dish. Bigger dish = more surface area = more pixels = WIN!

The only thing that sucks about DirecTV is their menu, which is a pretty big part of it. Slow/sluggish and hard to find channels you're looking for. Other than that though it's a good deal better than Dish Network, especially for HDTV. You can finagle a really good setup package with DTV.

Is the Directv HD DVR a new release? I'd wait a couple months if I knew a new HD DVR was going to come out so I could have the latest technology.

Also, on their website right now you can get the Plus HD DVR package for $54.99 for 12 months and a $99 startup cost for the DVR. Best deal out there?
