I was planning on taking Writing, Math 1c, Math 2c right now im almost done with pre-calculus i was advised to take 2c, is 1c or 2c better to take rite now, im a Junior now, next year ill prolly take the Sat2 once more then the Sat1 once more. Ive already taken Physics Sat 2 and got 600 and i took the writing and lets not talk bout it :( i got 500. Well i was wondering how good is a 600 on physics? should i take math 1c and 2c? or should i take something else like history ?? I plan to do somehting in computers for my future in college, so would something like history be very irrelevant?

If you plan on doing something computer-related on college you should take 2C. But you might want to wait until you've learned more in your math classes....you're only a junior-to-be! I didn't take any SATs until I was well into my junior year.

I took the math 2c and did fine with no pre-calc experience.... It defently helps for placement, and is required for alot of classes...

I'm taking Chem, IIC, and writing tomorrow. If you've taken pre-calc, then you should take IIC. One quick question, how much do colleges look at these tests? I've already taken Bio, got a 680 on that, and I should do well on the rest of these tests. But, do they matter, or is this just another scheme by the college board to take away your cash?

My college (University of Florida) only used them for placement, not for admissions (or scholarships/money) at all.. In fact, i didnt take math IIc until the day before i registered for classes... I would imagine many colleges are the same...

you're only gonna take the sats once more next year, even though you have the whole entire year and usually u do better on sats as you advance through school?

Anyways, i took the Sat2 math2c twice just ending precalc and i got 740 both times, its damn tough though. Buy a book to study from, although there only a few calc concepts like limit and easy stuff, your gonna need a book. taking the 2c also depends on what schools yoru gonna apply to: i guarantee you all Ivy leagues want their students to take the sat2 2c. Most reputable private schools also reccomend you take them. The thing about the 2cs though is that they make it so you can miss up to 4-5 questions and still get a 800, but its still really though because of difficulty and time constraints.

you want to ask yourself: are my math2c and 1c scores goning to be that different that i shouldnt take the 2c? What did you get on math on the sat1, that is somewhat a determinant of which one u should take.

about that physics score: not to be judgemental or anything, but thats not a great score if you plan to apply to high powered schools. The bio, physics, history, chem tests are usually designed to be taken after the respective AP course in order to achieve a higher score. Wait until the end of next year after you have taken some more AP courses and take that courses' SAT2 subject. Also, Usually high powered colleges like to see nothing in the sat2 lower than a 700.

About the writing score: i know friends that started out with 500 and were able to work their way up to 700's. Dont worry, but for writing, unless your read tons and know lots of grammar, you gotta study for it. I started out with a 640 and bumped it up to a 730 i believe. Plus the writing test is good to take numerous times because alot of it depends on your essay, and sometimes you might get a topic that you like and often times you will get a topic that you hate. Take the writing test at leat 2x...

which colleges are you thinking about btw?

dudd: colleges actually tend to look at the SAT2 as important as SAT1 if not more important. For example the University of california schools use to find a student's SAT index score by taking the SAT1 score + (2 x (combination of all SAt2 scores)), so as you can see the UC schools use to value the SAT2 2x as much as SAT1. But now they changed that, and they might be elminating SAt1s all together and just using the SAT2 scores.

Not sure about schools back east though, they usually keep thier admissions pretty secret.

apexII: well the actual index the UC's use also has a GPA value in it. Im not sure of the exact mutliples for the GPA, but i think its something like:

(GPA x 1500 to 2000?) + (SAT I) + (2(All SAT2 scores combined)) = Score index

SAT 2's matter very much in the college application process. How high you need will depend on the schools you're thinking of applying to, which are..... ?
