Which Router Survives P2P & Bit Torrent

I was wondering I've try'd so many routers from D-Link and Linksys and they all seem to crash or die and im forced to unplug and replug the router in order to get internet going again..

Anyone have any suggestions on a fix or a good model?

Im currently using Netgear RP614 4-Port with the newest firmware.

Its a great router but once i start my P2P and bit torrent it just cant keep up..

bumps would be greatly appreciated.

HP D220 w/Iptables, never had any issues, although my P2P usage is none. I have done a torrent download of a liveCD.

Me and my brothers use a heavey load of P2P and Bit torrents.. just having a hard time finding a good router that doesnt die or crash overnight..

I actually found a temp resolvement.. I just had to lower the amount of users per torrent and globally and now it seems to be running stable..

What did you limit the number too?

I lowered it to around 100 per torrent and 100 globally.. just play with it and see which is best for router..

also take into consideration not to download like 10 torrents at the sametime..

just do a testing faze... start high and work your way down till the router stops reseting 🙂

I can't remember the model since I'm not sitting next to it at the moment, but it's Netgear's first 108Mbps Wireless-G Cable/DSL router. (EDIT: Netgear WGT624 is the model) It had difficulties at first, but that turned out to be because I let it sit on the carpet, rather than a hard surface. Once it was on a little stack of CD cases it stopped shutting down periodically. It has some nice options and also supports UPnP, which is useful if your BT client has a port randomizer.

Also, try using a port other than the usuals. (other than 6881-6889, etc.) That seemed to help as well.

is the router overheating? if it is, run a fan on it. i have no problems with bit torrent/other p2p on my wrt54g + dd-wrt firmware.
