should i get a linksys 4port rounter or a dlink or another ip address....
will i be able to run a cs server thru routers?
waht are the advantages for another ip address?

get the netgear rt314

go to amazon.com and find the router. then go to staples for a price match. then use staples coupons.

i got mine for about 84 bucks

An extra ip address is very handy, especially if you want to run servers or game. But for most people, it's not worth the money every month for an extra ip number. right now i can't have several simultaneous connections to battlenet to play starcraft with just one ip number. If i had a second ip number, then i could.

LOL every single person that has responded has given a different suggestion! I'm sure this isn't helping him.

hahaha, networking is more of an art than an exact science.

read reviews or do search on these threads. find more than you need. search is your friend.

Buckmaster/Snoopcat

are you using your routers on a DSL connection with a dynamic or static ip?
(I've read that the smc barricade has issues with this...)

do you have issues with serving small web sites or serving games (quake, hl, UT...)???
(i've read that the rt314 has issues with this...)

TIA

the 486 with a pair of NIC's actually is a good idea! 🙂 (it would be less than a router)
but hey Routers are cool. 😀 and they work well. I have the Linksys 4 port model and it's great, Easy to setup like mentioned above, it's a good buy!!

I'd go with the linksys 4 port. TO date I have been unable to get ANY gaming to get past its firewall. Bastards.
