Which router is a better firewall, linksys or webramp?

I need the DHCP services for multiple machines, but I'm concerned about the firewall properties too. Is there any difference in capabilities here, I'm not sure I understand enough about this to tell. Are all the firewall capabilities just due to NAT, in which case they'd all provide the same amount of security, or do any of them have other built in features?

My Celeron 450 machine is better. :p There's a firewall! Use a spare system.. install the right software.. there ya go.

That might be an option I look at, but an $80 box which takes up almost no room is probably easier and more conveniant. Thanks, though!

I haven't used the webramp but do have the Linksys and am very happy with it. It handles NAT well and you can forward or block specific ports as well. I don't think the extra cost is justified for the webramp for basic home/small office use. Also, a hardware solutiong like this is much faster then a software package would be and recquire less maintenance and set up. Hope this helps-

Not much experience with other products, but I think the Linksys router is a nice product for the price. Raw throughput is pretty darn fast and it has some advanced features. Only big disadvantage is that filtering, port forwarding and other features only work with DHCP turned off. Manual IPs are a pain.

Manual IP's can be better, actually, if you use anything internally that depends on verification via IP of whatnot...

The Linksys will port forward and all that stuff with DHCP. I am using one with DHCP and ports are forwarded just fine. Very neat piece of equipment
