Question which router do i need to kill internet after 10pm?

i currently have the default Verizon fios router/wifi/modem white box.
what router or device lets me auto kill the internet at 10pm? but off course only allows 2 devices with known MAC addresses to go through? then resume normal operation at 7am?
even if someone plugs via CAT6, they cant connect online. i have no doubt PFsense can do this but no idea if something like this is available at Best Buy or Staples. would love something simple to manage.

Most "fancy" routers have parental controls which let you schedule that sort of thing. I'd first go over the manual for your existing one to make sure you're not missing a config screen somewhere. If your current router doesn't have one, I'd probably ask Verizon if they have a recommendation for an all-in-one unit.

Personally, I've used ASUS routers and TP-Link Omada mesh systems, both of which support a wide variety of that stuff.

I had a co-worker with a Ubiquiti mesh system who was able to print little QR Codes, which his kids could redeem for 30 minutes of wifi access one a particular device. That seems kinda neat.

ok. i see now. Asus have it and calls it "Parental Control."
i wonder if internet still works if someone connects via CAT5 into the back of the Asus. it does not mention specifically about hardwire connections.

Generally the parental controls apply to all devices based on MAC address, regardless of whether they are wifi or hard-wired.

You may face a problem though with devices that change their MAC address every time they connect. I have an ASUS router and I'm facing this problem.

You can whitelist the MAC addresses so if iPhone user uses random MAC address won't be able to connect

Yeah but this will prevent his access completely. I don't want to prevent it. I want to control it. I can take the kid's phones and disable it myself but they might re-enable it again even if they don't know what it does.

How? It still will let iPhone with factory MAC address connect, but not random mac addresses it generates. So if they re-enable the random mac address then iPhone won't be able to connect. You then use Parental Control function of the router for scheduled access. You just have to enter every device's mac address in the house into the router.

Oh I see. So when you disable the private wifi address, the iphone will use its actual MAC address, and you mean to whitelist this one. Yeah this could work.
