Please type your resolution, bpp, refresh rate, your card, and if you use vsync, AA, and AF - if you choose to reply.

1280x960
32bpp
100Hz
BFG Tech Asylum Geforce FX 5900.
Vsync on
AA off
AF off

Depends on the game

10x7
9800pro
AA x2 or x4
AF x16
32bpp
Vsync On

12x10
AA off
AF x16(if possible)
32bpp
Vsync On

I have a 17'' Nokia 447xpro (10x7 at 100Hz and 12x10 at 85Hz)

1280x1024 (native resolution of my 192t)
32bpp
70Hz
ATI 9800Pro AIW

For the rest I play around with them a lot. Usually vsync is off and I run 6x aa and 16x af. Though a lot of the time I just use application preference.

so VIAN, when you come accross a game that gives you low framerates at those settings i take it you either just suffer though it or don't play it?

personaly, i play games at the highest settings i can manage while still maintaining acceptable framerate. i don't stick to one resolution. also, unlike you, i appreciate good image quality so i tend to keep things like vsync, aa, and af all on when possable.

1024x768 in most games... 1280x1024 in games like Homeworld where the screen is mostly dark and the flickering isn't noticeable.
32 bpp
85 Hz (60 Hz at 1280x1024)
Aopen Aeolus FX5900 @ 490/940
Vsync on
4X AA
8X AF

I like things that work for all games, so that I don't have to change it. I also like really high fps, but at an acceptable level of image quality - Clearness and crispiness, not blurriness. I do like high Image quality, but I can't stand low res., the scan lines, hurt my eyes. So, I would rather have high res, and AA off and AF off. Leaving these off makes my card last a whole lot longer and I can bump up the settings inside the game. Optimal res on my monitor is at 1280x1024. Res is one of the last things to lower, when I need performance.

Just got a new 17" LCD. Here's my new preferred settings:
1280x1024
32bpp
75Hz (analog, VGA. Windows refresh rate)
Gainward GF4 Ti4200 128MB
Vsync default
AA off
AF off

Old settings for 17" tube
1024x768
32bpp
85Hz
Gainward GF4 Ti4200 128MB
Vsync default
AA depends
AF depends

1024x768
32bpp
85Hz
BFG Tech Asylum GeForce FX 5900 @ 450/900 (stock is 400/850)
Vsync on
4x AA
8x AF

sure i understand that you, like many people, prefer high resolution to aa and af or ingame settings. but, with your 5900 you should be able to get away with both in many games even with the in game settings cranked and if you really aprecated high image quality you would take the time to turn them on when your preformace alows for it. leaveing them off in such cases doesn't extend the life of your card any, it just robs you of the high quality image your hardware is cappable of. also, assumeing your monitor is a standard crt then 1280x1024 is not your optimal resoltion as the resolution has a 5:4 aspect ratio and standard crts are 4:3; at 1280x1024 everything gets *streached* horizonally to fit your screen, another blemish on the image quality.

*edit: said sqaushed, ment streached.
