Which Reliable Notebook

Hi, i would like to ask for help with choosing a notebook.

I was looking to get Asus or Lenovo, but would consider Dell Latitude or some other as well when recommended.
I need something reliable with at best all of those features:

- SATA Hdd replaceable for SSD (or comes with SSD, but...)
- 12-16" matt screen with at best LED backlight
- at least 4 hours runtime
- durable, decent look
- at best a card reader with CF
- would love to have UMTS
- price under 1000Eur, europe availability as well...
- power supply connector which is not some proprietary POS (need to use it in car and many fixed places and therefor some generic/cheap power supply compatibility is welcome)
- VGA connection possible (at best with native connector), HDMI welcome

size, weight, CPU or graphics performance is not an issue. But would gladly trade all for runtime, however I dont want atom and it must be at least 12" screen.

thank You a lot! Sandy

I'd recommend a laptop with a Pentium Dual-Core, or an Athlon II (not an Athlon). The AII will be slightly faster (not that it matters 😛) and probably around the same price point. I like ASUS, HP, Lenovo is good but I think more expensive. Idk about UK model numbers...

For more runtime, it's a good idea to undervolt a bit. I can help you out with that a bit if you want.

I won't go through all the specs, but give the ASUS UL series a look. The UL30A, UL30VT, UL80VT, and UL50VT are all worth checking out. They only thing I can say for sure that they DO NOT have on your list is a matte screen. Perhaps Lenovo or Dell's business line of laptops (Lattitude, Vostro) still come with matte screens, but they unfortunately seen to be dying out.

I don't know if they ship to / are purchasable from Europe, but the laptops are listed on Amazon.com.
