I'll be closing on a house in 2 weeks' time, and the wife and I will most likely be purchasing a new fridge as our own personal house-warming gift. We've been looking at Lowe's only so far, as we're not looking too seriously until we actually sign the deed. However, we've spotted two refrigerators so far that we both like.
Up for vote, are the following:
The Samsung RB215LASH - Bottom-mount fridge that looks plain sexy. We're not partial to either the stainless look or the glossy black, although the stainless is $50 more. This particular fridge is 20.5 cu.ft, 14 in the fridge, 6.5 in the freezer, with an automatic ice-maker inside. The thing I like most about this fridge is that it's so damned sexy looking, with the sleek, smooth finish with blue-led temps and buttons in the middle. Sure, it's just a refrigerator, but nobody I know has one like this, and I like to be different.
The Frigidaire FRS6LR5EM - Side-by-side, typical fare fridge. A lot larger at 26.0 cu.ft., but with a duller stainless look to the front. Not anywhere near as sleek as the Samsung, but functional with more space and in-door water. Boring, dull, amber-lighted controls and ice/water recess in freezer door.
For some time to come, it will be just the wife and I living in the house, so it's not like the extra fridge room will be needed. We do drink a lot of filtered water currently with a Brita pitcher, so the in-door filtered water would be nice. However, Frigidaire filters are 4.5x more expensive that the Brita filters we use, which last us around two months.
So how about it, which would you choose and why? Consider this an informal polling.....I'm leaning towards the Samsung if I had to buy today.
