Which ratio to select for pics? 4:3, 16:9, or 21:9?

So i have a new cell phone and it gives me 3 ratios to select from (4:3, 16:9, or 21:9) and 2 resolutions (12mp and 8mp).
i'm selecting 8mp because i'm just putting the pics up on facebook and the smaller size means less data consumed.

but for pic ratios, which one?
And why?

(This is about my phone's camera, and i figure people in this sub-forum know more about general camera stuff than the people in the mobile device sub-forum.)

Stick to a 4:3 - it's the sensors native resolution so you won't be throwing away pixels plus it's a nice look. You can always crop to look like the other two ratios, which look more widescreen.

The first number refers to units of width and the second to units of height.

However if you want to take a landscape looking 'wider' look shot without having to worry about framing bigger then cropping later, then switch to 16:9, but for general everyday shooting I think 4:3 is the way to go
