If everyone replied to this, the internet would fill up! Seriously though, I never knew that this "over-clocking" as you call it would actually speed up the CPU. I thought it was a way to travel through time.

I don't think latency has anything to do with overclocking, and that's the only difference between the two. Still, if you want the best performance, get the lowest latency ram. (though I guess OC'ing may require rolling back the latency settings a bit to get higher FSB)

Why the fvck are you getting an AMD that only runs at 2.4ghz when you can get an Intel that runs at 3.4ghz for the same price.

Which intel processor would that be? The Intel Pentium 4 650 for $420? Which gets beat by Athlon 64's that cost half that amount?

Besides, the Athlon 64 X2 4400+ costs $600+, and I couldn't even find it in stock yet.

According to "Benchies" at a lower "Clock" the "AMD" CPU performs better than the "Intel Pentium 4" at the higher frequenices.

This is a common mistakes for noobies (You) so I understand the awful, ugly horrible error.

You're saying 3.4ghz is slower than 2.4ghz, lol give me a break. That's like saying a Porsche that hits 190mph is slower than a Civic that can only hit 80mph.

AMD is a thirdworld chipset manufactorer that makes cheap knockoff Intel chips.

I'm guessing you don't like America. The only reason a person would buy AMD over Intel is irrational hatred for the US of A.

He was being sarcastic. You seem to have miss the fact that a few people were mocking your explanation of overclocking to a quite well-versed, overclocking online forum.

Anyway, back to the topic.

I dont think it will make much difference really but if you really want to squeeze those encoding times down by a few seconds, the ones with tighter timings would be your best bet in theory.

You're correct. Ram is a big time decision. If you aren't big on gas mileage then go with the Dodge Ram Laramie Quad Cab 4WD. It's got a 5.7L 330 hp V8 so you can haul all kinds of stuff! And enough cab space to haul your own army! :D I think it has one of them Cee-Pee-Eww units in it somewhere, and it has a clock in the dashboard you can set fast (over-clock) or set it slow (under-clock). ;)

He wasn't asking an honest question. He was making fun of you. And you didn't answer him respectfully at all. You called him a noobie, which btw is different from newbie. Noobie implies that the said person acts like they know everything, whereas in reailty, the said person does not. Newbie implies that the person is new to whatever subject is being discussed, and does not know much yet. Also, you called his mistake an "awful, ugly horrible error", which not only is incorrect grammar, it's also not very respectful.

To answer your question: don't get either of those. Get value ram and run a divider. Just as fast but half the price.

Make sure it is regular SDRAM, and not that fancy, DDR stuff, which is just a marketing gimmick. And take back that AMD and get a Celeron. They are sooo much faster, especially when paired with SDRAM. Why do you think HP and Compaq put that combo in so many computers a few years back?

fatty4ksu - I'd get the $299 OCZ. It has lower latency which AMD 64 internal mem controller likes a lot in games and other bandwidth intensive apps like specview and winrar. It's not much of a price premium anyway. Godd Luck. And Let's hope we can get these X2's soon:)
