I no it is off topic. But I would also appreciate some good advice on the right ram to buy during this good ram market. I know of course that corsair or mushkin is awesome but very pricey. What is a good ram with decent overclockability for a decent price?
 
I'm guessing unless you overclock the FSB that it will run perfectly fine no? If so, i am picking the micron up definitly for my duron + kt7.
 
I love to tell you all this my Hyundai pc 133 7.5ns is awesome ram I got my Athlon classic 750@910 running 107*8.5 1.8v and ram running at 146mhz and they rock the sandra soft memory benchmark usually beat the 1gz p3 by far running rambus700 and comes very close to the 1gz athlon...
 
whoops just look at my best screen capture ever..... beat both the athlon and the p3.... alu mem bandwidth at 456 and fpu at 529 🙂 thats fun stuff

do you think its worth it to buy the good ram or to just get one of the generic zeus 128 pc133 sticks for $84 + 5 shipping?
 
Micron is good, but none of those are going to perform any differently. You don't find many companies that make bad RAM, they wouldn't be in business, and all the company's you mention are pretty heavy duty.

The main thing you want is a company who will replace any defective RAM for life. PNY does, and they don't jerk you around with it like they do their rebates. If you aren't happy or have any doubt as to the RAM being defective, they send you out NEW RAM to replace it.
 
Beware the one year warranty... These DIMMS are probably Micron chips on some generic PCB... If you want something that performs like "real" Micron then I'd suggest something made by Crucial which has a lifetime warranty and is often used in hardware reviews and whatnot... I have some of the 7.5ns and it does 143 mhz in my CUSL2...

How about that? 119 for micron 128 pc133 cas-2 with life time warranty. Around 11 dollars ups ground or 13 for fedex 2-day to ship to Maryland. Not the hottest but for 20 bucks more perhaps this is better since it is cas-2 and a lifetime warranty. What do you think?
 
I know not everyone wants to pay more for peace of mind, but here's my opinion:

Don't buy RAM from random companies even with lifetime warranties unless you know they will be around a while AND they have great customer/technical support. Sure I paid extra for some Crucial RAM, but if it ever goes bad, I am comforted by the thought that I can call an 800#, talk to friendly service agents, and get the matter resolved QUICKLY. This is the same reason why I buy other peripherals from places like NECX. Those of you with 12 pcs and 32 gb of RAM between them all probably disagree, but it sounds to me like Agamar is making more of a long-term purchase and this might be something to keep in mind.

I've still got a pc-100 stick that I bought from TCComputers, who have possibly the worst customer and technical support over the phone in the history of market economies (their amazing lack of skills will probably not be bested until the year 2185 by a blind, deaf mute selling faulty cold fusion devices made out of cow dung)... I nearly had a conniption the other day at the thought of having to deal with them when it wasn't working in one of my machines (fortunately it worked in another).
 
I've had bad experiences with Hyundai ram. I couldn't go PC133@CAS2 with it at all and I ended up switching to something better.
