Which RAM for my setup?

I'm still trying to gather up more information on building my computer, here's my current list for now:

Motherboard: Either the Chaintech VNF4, or the DFI nf4 ultra when it comes out, leaning towards the DFI
CPU: AMD athlon 3000+
Vid card: ATI x800 XL, if it even comes out

I'm debating over the following two choices for memory:

CORSAIR XMS Xtreme 512x2

or...

Crucial Ballistix 512x2
http://www.newegg.com/app/View...tion=20-146-546&depa=0

Both can run extra low latnencies, but I'm not sure if the Ballistix can run at 2-2-2-5 as well as the corsair.

I don't plan on overclocking my system at all, please don't try to convince me otherwise.

I'd chose Ballistix, because Micron is one of the few manufacturers that has total control of their memory production (from chipsets onwards). Also a US company, which helps support our tech industry.

Agreed. I personally am very happy with my Ballistix PC4000.

However, if you're not going to OC, I'd just get the standard Crucial RAM.

LL RAM doesn't do much for the A64. That RAM is great for OCing 1/1, but you're not going to OC, so don't waste your money.

Edit: The Ballistix run fine with 2-2-2-5 1T @ 400MHz

Zebo made a thread showing the performance increases seen from faster/lower latency memory on the A64, marginal at best.

if you do want to follow through on this ram, i would find out if either of these specific model #'s are on the guaranteed compatibility list for your motherboard. both ballistix and corsair are usually on these lists, but you might want to double check.

As a note, if you buy Crucial Ballistix, I would reccomend going through the Crucial website to do so. With their coupon the price is cheaper than Newegg and they have free shipping.
