I thought the x58 chipsets were the only ones that ran tri channel? The mushkin kit looks awesome but is it really needed or could you save a bit with a 1600 kit

I think your right about triple channel being only x58. I think there is quad channel though, but I am not buying four of these for $200 X_X.

But yeah having a hard time between these two, have to make a decision in 2-3 hours. The Mushkin has a higher clock at 1866 @ 1.5 volts and more latency, but the Corsair comes in at 1600 @ 1.35.

These numbers mean nothing to me D:

Oh and I really just save $5 lol.

"+ $25 off w/ promo code EMCXRTX36, ends 6/5"

That's a savings of $15, not $5 ($120 v. $105). The speeds won't matter for you, with an Intel CPU, just voltage.

Which Ram and why?
If I were shopping for high quality memory, I would use the following parameters as a guide...

* DDR3 rated at 1.5v or lower
* DDR3 rated at the lowest CAS I could afford
* DDR3 rated at the highest clock speed I could afford
* Limit the scope of my purchease to G.Skill, Mushkin, Samsung, Corsair XMS or Crucial (non-Ballistix)

While not wavering on the voltage point, I would balance the other issues with my budget.

Remember, my goal is not pure "benchmarking" performance, but simply finding the highest quality memory I can afford. ^_^
The only reason I pay a premium for low latency, high speed, low voltage memory is...
Quality and quality alone.
1.5v is the JEDEC DDR3 voltage standard.
Stay with 1.5v or less if you can afford it..

I highly recommend the 4G sticks of Samsung MV-3V4G3D-US_DDR3. I run 4 X's 4G sticks = 16G in Dual Channel at 1866 Mhz, 1.5v, 9-9-9-24-1T. If you relax the timing and increase the voltage to 1.55 you can hit over 2400 Mhz with the lowest Voltage/Speed of any DDR3 on the market. Another BIG Plus is that they have a very low profile where large CPU Heat Sinks & Radiators will not interfere with this ram - Gov't Agencies, the Military and NASA use this Ram.

They only come in 4G Sticks, as far as I know, and all sticks are Dual, Triple and 4 Channel compatible and can run as low as 1600MHz ( 7- 7- 7-20 1T) @ 1.50v and lower voltage with relaxed timing.

I've run Memtest and LinX 64 for hours on end using all 16G's in Dual Channel of this ram and have never received an error running it at 1.5v, 1866 Mhz 9-9-9-24 1T.

Here are Online reports regarding it's Scaling:
- 1600MHz ( 7- 7- 7-20 1T) @ 1.50v WOW! 1600Mhz CL7
- 1600MHz ( 7- 8- 8-24 1T) @ 1.40v
- 1600MHz ( 6- 7- 7-18 1T) @ 1.55v Absolutely Incredible
- 1866MHz ( 9- 9- 9-27 1T) @ 1.40v
- 1866MHz ( 9- 9- 9-24 1T) @ 1.35/1.45v ( I'll take this Setting ;o)
- 1866MHz ( 8- 9- 9-24 1T) @ 1.50v LIKE this CL8 Timing ;o)
- 1866MHz ( 8- 8- 8-24 1T) @ 1.55v Theoretical
- 2000MHz ( 9-10-10-28 1T) @ 1.45v
- 2133MHz (10-10-10-28 1T) @ 1.45v
- 2133MHz ( 9-10-10-24 1T) @ 1.475v
- 2133mhZ ( 9- 9- 9-24 1T) @ 1.50v << Incredible >>
- 2133MHZ ( 9-10-10-28 1T) @ 1.55v-1.6v
- 2133MHz ( 9-11-11-21-1T @ 1.55v
- 2400MHz (11-11-11-28 2T) @ 1.50v
- 2760MHz (11-13-13-35-2T) @ 1.65V

I bought 2 Pkg's of 2 sticks for 4 sticks = 16G's from NewEgg.CA a few months ago for $96 delivered.

I see the cost has gone ballistic for it - Good Luck finding it for a reasonable price today ;o)

Incredible DDR3, like my i7 2700K, you can run them at any speed and I mean 5 Ghz +.

I run 24/7 idle at .976v @ 1600 Mhz and 29C topping 1.38v @ 4.6 Ghz maxing 67C on the CPU running this Samsung ram at 1866 Mhz, 1.5v 9-9-9-24 1T with a Corsair H110 in a Fractal Design ARC Midi R2 case. I got, on tap a 5.2 Ghz BIOS Profile idling at 1.2v @ 1600 Mhz hitting 1.55v on the CPU maxing at 73C with a Reboot. Yet this ram remains absolutely SOLID at 1.5v.

My Main Board is an ASUS P8Z68-V Pro Gen3 - Great MB, in my opinion, and have no reason to Update to IB or Haswell.

Love this RAM and can't say enough about it ;o)

Not on sale anywhere. Already bought the Mushkin. My budget for Ram was to get 16 gb in 2 dimms for no more than $110.
