Which PSU to buy ?

Hello Friends. I am from India

I want to buy PSU and I am confused between Corsair's VS series and CX Series. Though my budget is not too high, I want to buy PSU which will be compatible with GFX Card like AMD R9 270x. I have went through some forums but still the doubt is not clear. I can go for any other brands of PSU such as Seasonic or Antec if the price is as same as below mentioned PSUs

I am confused between Corsair VS 650 and Corsair CX 600

Please suggest/recommend me a good PSU for my upcoming GFX Card AMD R9 270x

My PC Specs are as follows:

Processor: AMD Phenom II X6 1055T 2.8 Ghz
Motherboard: Gigabyte GA-880GM-USB3L
RAM: Corsair Value Select 2 x 4 GB RAM 1333 Mhz
Monitor: Dell IN2030 720p HD Monitor (No HDMI Support)

I will be buying Corsair Liquid Cooler H40 as well as my CPU making lots of noise. So mentioning if it has to do with PSU

A good quality power supply is important! This may mean having to spend a bit more than expected, but a good quality PSU should last for many years and provide stable and clean power to your system. Cheap and/or low quality PSU's do not usually last for long and their outputs may be unstable which can damage other system components (mother board in particular).

The Corsair CX and VS series of PSU's are mid-range quality units. Because of certain components used within these PSU's, there is some concern about the long term reliability of these units. Therefore these PSU's are not really recommended.

Based on your specifications, and it is assumed that there is one HDD plus an optical drive, and with no overclocking, the base system power requirement will be around 350W. To allow a bit of headroom and to allow for PSU degradation due to aging, suggest a PSU with a minimum rating of 500W.

Some recommended PSU's (roughly in order of cheapest units first) -

XFX Core Edition (Pro) 550W
Antec HCG-520M
Rosewill Capstone-550
SeaSonic S12II-520
SeaSonic M12II-520
SeaSonic S12G-550
Rosewill Capstone-550M
SeaSonic G-550

I'm an Antec fanboi myself, the HCG-520M looks good for ya, but it's made by Seasonic anyway, so depending on pricing I'd imagine most of the Seasonics would be in the same ball park.

40 Amps on the 12V doesn't hurt either, though I've never used that particular one.

That puts it down to pricing and individual features, if it were me it would be one of those 5, IMHO.

OP: Do you plan on any overclocking? Because with no overclocking, total system usage for that won't come anywhere NEAR 350w. If you are budget constrained, it's better to purchase a higher quality PSU at a lower watt rating than to get a lower quality unit with a higher watt rating. What do your options start looking like for PSUs that are lower than 500w?

Did we forget to allow for the Corsair H40 liquid cooling unit?

The proposed system will take around 350W with the CPU cooler.

I want to buy PSU which will not be bottlenecking any of my components such as CPU or GPU.

As I have to come to know VS 650 gives 50 amps on +12V in comparison to CX 600 which gives 40 amps on +12V...

Also to keep in mind, that CX 600 is Certified 80 Plus Bronze Class and VS 650 is not.

By these 2 points, please suggest me a better PSU ? VS 650 or CX 600 for my GFX card AMD R9 270x.

Your and OP hardware are different. Input the components the OP specified into this and the resulting power will be about 350W.

A an exercise, your components input to the above calculator results in around 400~450W power requirement!

And that's exactly the problem--those calculators greatly overestimate. My UPS tells me exactly how much power it draws and it has never gotten up to 350, even when gaming.

And yes, our hardware is different. The point I'm making is, every piece of hardware I have is more power hungry than the OP's.
