* Cooler Master Elite 330
* Gigabyte GA-MA790X-UD4P motherboard
* AMD Phenom II Quad 940 Black Editon - Stock cooling
* 8GB G-Skill PC2-6400
* XFX Radeon 4870 1GB
* Western Digital Caviar Black 1TB SATA II
* Western Digital Caviar Black 640GB SATAII
* Onboard LAN/HD Audio
* Logitech DiNovo Keyboard
* Logitech MX Revolution Mouse
* 2 X Yate Loon 120mm silent case fans
* 2 X Dell 23" S2309 W @ 1900 x 1080

As some of you know, I had a melt down of either my PSU or my old motherboard (Gigabyte GA-MA78GM-S2H 780G motherboard) where either of them took each other out. Regardless, I have come to the conclusion that the motherboard was not the best motherboard for the setup, so I am replacing it today with the GIGABYTE GA-MA790X-UD4P. Now, some have said that the EA650 was either a bad PSU in the first place...or it is a good PSU and I got a bad batch. I RMA'ed the PSU last week and should be getting a replacement soon on it (as well as the motherboard, but I won't use it at all).

Should I continue to use the Antec EA650 650wt psu or upgrade to a better PSU? If so, which PSU would you recommend?

The Antec is definitely a good PSU, and your failure was definitely the exception that comes with buying ANY tech (no matter how much money you spend on the absolute best, most reliable brand you do get a DOA/defective from time to time. It's just the way the biz works). Anyone trying to argue that the Antec Earthwatts line isn't a solid group of PSU's, is, well, wrong.

However, I can understand if your confidence in the product may be lessened, in which case a Corsair VX550 or TX650 would be a good alternative

at 650W, the only PSU that is really better than the EA650 is the Antec Signature....or maybe something from Zippy. Otherwise you will need to upgrade beyond 650W.

The TX650 is really only about on par with the EA650.
