Which processor would you recommend?

Hey,

I'm torn between a few laptops...both not very high spec, but all identical in price -

I'm just wondering which would be a better performer, processor wise.

1) ------------------------------------

Processor Intel Pentium Dual Core
Processor Bus 533 MHz
Processor Cache 1MB
Processor Model Number T2330
Processor Speed 1.6GHz

2) ------------------------------------

Processor AMD Athlon 64 X2 Mobile Technology
Processor Bus Up to 1600 MHz system bus running at AC/DC mode 35 Watt
Processor Cache Level 2 cache 512 KB,
Processor Model Number TK57

Cheers!

I would give a slight edge to the intel chip...normally you get better graphics on the amd chips though...

The cache is not the only reason for intel's advantage. The core architecture is MUCH better than the x2 arch. Those two chips ARE roughly equivalent, however. I would get the intel system unless you're going to do some gaming.

I don't know. With a quick search, it seems that the T2330 is actually a based on the Pentium M architecture and not based on the Core 2 architecture; which would take away the implied advantage. The AMD is probably the better chip. A better Intel chip would be the T5450, which actually is based on the Core 2 Architecture.
