Which processor is better the Intel Pentium Celeron, Pentium 4, or any of the AMD processor?

Dude, which celeron? Which p4? Which amd? If you're talking about the fastest out of each of those categories it would go p4>amd>celeron

generally speaking the celeron is the weakest of the 3, the intel "C" CPUs (800 mhz FSB) seem to be doing very well

What are you smoking? I'd rather have a 3 Ghz Celeron than a 2.4CGhz P4 or even a 2600+

sheesh talk about lying to a user ;)

Don't get a celeron, Intel and AMD are pretty close with AMD having usually better price to performance. P4 seems better for first time builders. Hard to put the heatsink on wrong. Plus
heatspreader on the core to help protect it.

thus the phrase "generally speaking" if you're playing the OC game, oc a 2.4C and tell me how it fair with your 3ghz celeron

and judging by this review, i think u are sadly mistaking if you think your 3ghz celeron can even compete with a 2600+

Don't ever buy a celeron unless someone is pointing a gun to you're head, they are crappo, Athlon XP's 1700-2500 can be had for a much CHEAPER price and perform near 2.6-3.0C P4 levels. If you want the best CPU $$$ can by its gonna be a new P4 C w/800MHZ FSB and HT. Amd's high end offerings of XP3000/XP3200 can't compete with intel's P4 3.0C, but the amd cpu is quite cheaper:). Best way to break it down is if you want the best darn cpu for under $50, its gonna be an Athlon XP1700, for $100 get a Barton XP2500, more than $100 you're looking at a P4 C.

BTW the P4 C's overclock like crazy, my 2.6C does 3.25GHZ at 250MHZ x 13.:D

magomago you're the one on crack if you think a celeron overclocked to 3ghz would even come close to a 2.4c chip running STOCK.

I guess maybe a 4ghz celery could do it, maybe..... lol

Thanks for the feedback.:)

So you guys are saying I prolly should get the AMD if I wanna go cheap and still get a pretty decent processor? And I should get the P4 if I want a pretty expensive and excellent processor?

And I shouldn't even bother trying to get a Pentium Celeron then:D

I hope so too

buy a XP1700+ for $50 and it would still kill a celly 3.0ghz

I think I would eat raw sh!t, take a run naked through Times Square, eat a fudge and bacon sandwich, and pee in my soup before eating it, before buying a celeron.

Then again, I really like Pea Soup

That article was Intel biased :(! I'd rather have a 1700+ or 2500+ OC'ed in a budget system anyday over that crappy celeron.

But for high-end it's P4 all the way.

Why? Do you run games in the background while you use photoshop?
