hey all, going to be upgrading to a PRO soon.. and i was wondering..

which company to go with.. i am thinkin leadtek... but that's only 5.5 ram and that means lower overclocking!!!! 🙁

i will probably go MSI though, but i have heard the 2d is pretty bad.. what do you guys think...

Leadtek's only has 366Mhz RAM...MSi's has 400Mhz (proper Pro spec).
But I think the Leadtek will have the better 2D quality.

 
well, the reason i am considering leadtek is.. becasue i have a MX made by them.. overclocks GREAT.. and the 2d is pretty decent.. which one would you guys get if you were buying a PRO tomorrow?!?! 😉
 
As a matter of fact I'm buying a Pro tommorrow!!! lmao, anyway I'm getting an MSI. Best bang for the buck!
 
i heard that you can fix the MSI's 2d problem by soldering a small piece.. not sure exactly but that's what i was told..

is this right?
 
I've never even heard of any 2D problems... not a big deal to me, my monitor is a cheap 15" Proview so any 2D problems probably won't be apparent on my monitor.

How can they get away with that if the spec for Pro cards is 200MHz DDR? Are they overclocking it to 200MHz DDR or just running it at a lower clock compared to other Pros?
 
Leadtek runs theirs at a lower clock. My MSI Pro's 2d is starting to bug me, my eyes get blurry after an hour or so of 2d work.
 
There's also Hercules. But eitherway I'm satisfied with my MSI, don't know what 2D problem you are talking about, but then again, I don't pick up on fine details like that. I'm guessing that the 2d problem can be fixed using the RFI filter mod, correct?

that's what i thought.. it can't be THAT bad.. hopefully just as good as my mx.. but i think i will sacrifice some 2d for raw speed 🙂..

I *would* get the MSi 64MB Pro, and I *am* going to as soon as Newegg.com is back in stock.

Shooters: I dunno how they pull it off...but they do.
Maybe it's like thier product name.


The Winfast 3 "Pro" or something like that. Pro is in the product name but it's actually just a GF2GTS? I dunno how they do it...but I know they don't run the ram at the proper 400Mhz DDR.
 
I run my 21" Trinitron at 1280x960. The general consensus seems to be that the 2d quality of nvidia cards aren't bad until you go over 1024x768, I haven't tried it at that resolution yet so I don't know. So if your desktop resolution is 1024x768, you don't have anything to worrry about.
 
well than thats good to know, thanks boogak, i guess it will be perfect for me because that's the res. i run my desktop, plus on a 17.. any higher makes my eyes hurt...
 
Well, I've got an MSI GeForce 2 Pro 64MB card and I run my 21" Trinitron (G500) at 1280x1024x32, and I think the 2D can use some work. I've got the card all modded out with a blue orb and ram sinks to give me some extra power but the 2D is starting to bug me. :| It's not horrible but I had a Voodoo5 5500 before and the V5 DEFINITELY had MUCH better 2D. I'm REALLY thinking about getting a Radeon VIVO SE and putting the GF2 Pro in my machine with a 17" that runs at 1024x768x32. At 1024x768x32 the res really doesn't look bad at all on the GF2 Pro.
 
so jack.. would you definately recommend a MSI on a 17 inch..

i run 1024.. so hopefully the 2d is good...

hey guys, before i buy, i gotta sell, how much do you think i could get for My mx 208c/207m no problems..??

i am hoping around 80 because then, the pro won't cost me much at all....

Ya, it's not bad at 1024. However, when you get in games, you can crank it up to 1600x1200x32. 🙂 Well, at least Madden 2001 runs pretty good at that res. 🙂 I usually play QIII and UT at 1280x1024x32.
