Which Presidents would you like to meet or have met?

Can someone please explain to me how this topic should be under P&N. Just because it mentions Presidents doesn't make it politics. This is a history question and should be Off Topic at best. There needs to be a rule about Anarchist and his random historical analyses and how they shouldn't be in P&N.

Lincoln, FDR - historical perspective

Obama - current President and I like him

Clinton and Boris Yeltsin - go to Happy Hour

I've met Bush, Bush Sr, Clinton and Obama. They are all cool people, put their pants on like we do. I might disagree with most of them but that doesn't mean I refused to see them or shrug it off.

those that are dead I'd like to have seen the founders and JFK. JFK pretty much saved the world.

Never again will the words "ask not what your country can do for you" ever leave the lips of a Democrat. Sigh.

Calvin Coolidge. Ask him how on earth he shrank government.

Easy. Its social welfare entitlements that breed gripping government power. Nobody will ever vote their own check away, so those who promise Robinhood and Santa Clause always win the votes. Its a one way noose that just keeps getting tighter and tighter.

Most of said programs are a recent phenomenon well into the 1900s that were created after the great depression, long after Calvin Coolidge.

I don't think it could get any better than going on an expedition with Teddy to the Amazon, or a Safari to Africa, or even fly fishing in Yellowstone. The kind of conversations one can have while sharing adventure are rarely surpassed.

Politics aside probably Clinton. Go cruising for chicks. Make fun of Hillary together. We could throw one hell of a party.

clinton, hands down.

yeah, pretty much everyone loves Clinton, regardless of politics. He really is one of those "awesome" people to converse with, or just hang around. My uncle, who is now a teabagger--so always rather staunchly conservative and of course, loathed Clinton while he was POTUS. He only ever referred to him as "Slick Willy."

however he once had the opportunity to meet after attending a dinner at which Clinton spoke, and my uncle returned, beaming. "I may not agree with this guy," my uncle said, "But wow--that is one brilliant, charismatic man!"

For me, I would probably toss Clinton in there, but would prefer these:

Lincoln/Jefferson, naturally
Kennedy (for the chicks)
TR: that dude was badass. I'd love to spend a weekend just shooting big-ass animals with him, back when such practices were tolerable. 😀

Jefferson - to hear about individual liberty versus collective need.
Reagan - to hear about the Cold War.
Washington - to ask how he managed to turn down the power of being King.
Nixon - to point and yell "Zombie!"

Teddy - So much respect for his impact on the national park system
Lincoln - who wouldn't want to meet with him?
Jefferson - as others said, talk about his hypocrisy with slavery
John Adams (and Abigail) - Brilliant, and the yang to Jefferson's yin
JFK - those 13 days, I want to know what was really going on in his mind
FDR - Just talk about the impact he had on our country in the 20th century

Sorry, as you can see I booked Teddy for an Amazon expedition, Safari, and fly fishing jaunt through Yellowstone several minutes before your post. So you will wait your dern tern. :colbert:

I wouldn't mind finger painting with Bush. I hear he can stay between the lines already.

I'm kidding though, i mostly blame Cheney for his admin.

I wouldn't mind hanging out with Clinton at the Clinton Global Initiative.

I forgot to mention Dwight D. Eisenhower. He pretty much told us when he left office how F'ed up we would become if the Military Industrial Complex went full on.

It's not everyday one of your nations greatest warriors becomes President and warns of the dangers of the military.

Then again he did start the who interventionism thing so /shrug product of his time I guess.
