Which portable audio device do you prefer?

I'm all about the solid state mp3. In the car I am using a straight up cd player. An mp3 player would be nice but since blanks are free now (basically) I can convert MP3s to CD anyway. Surprisingly I've bought a couple of CDs recently for the quality :Q
