I have the option of swapping my Vibrant for a G2 but I don't think I'm going to do it. With the bootloader issues, I won't be in any better shape with the G2.

The myTouch HD should be out around Christmas. That's got my interest a lot more than the G2 now.

I would swap it just for the fact that you can get more for the G2 right now.

I eventually got the G2 and absolutely love it. In all honestly, the main reason I got the G2 is because Huntsville just became a HSPA+ city, that was what finally tipped it in the G2's favor.

Just got back from swapping my phone. Tmobile is the freaking best provider I have ever had. My Vibrant was 40 some days old and the manager didn't even mention the return period. He kept saying he was sorry for my troubles and I think he really meant it. I had to pay a $10 restocking fee but who cares about $10?

G2 feels rock solid compared to the cheap feeling Vibrant. My GPS works perfect and I don't have to hack it to get Froyo. I'm going to leave it stock for a bit before I start screwing with it. I don't want to brick this one since I think I may be out of favors up there for a while

There is a pretty interesting nerd race going between Cyanogen and some other folks to get permanent root. I see this as being a really good thing.

I couldn't be happier right now. I never realized how much I missed the status light!

I'm in similar debate myself to return my epic 4g and go with the G2. Sprint service seems to cut out when i'm on the phone and GPS has a hard time picking up my location sometimes even after applying the GPS fix. I tend to restart the phone to get the my location working. I do love the AMOLED screen and front facing camera option. In my apt. I can't get 4G on the 20th floor but, on the 1st floor . Though HSPA+ comes in fine on the 20th floor without issue. GPS is huge for me and i'm heavily considering going back to t-mo for the G2.

Amazon has the G2 for $99 with a 2 yr contract. Not sure if u qualify as a new customer though

If Tmo gives you service where you want it, do it. I can't count the number of phones I have used between personal use and when I was selling cell phones but the Galaxy S is probably the phone I have hated the most. Maybe the Ericsson T18 with its antenna breaking issues...

Either way, Samsung proved that it does not care about its customers. They sold how many millions of those phones before they "fixed" the GPS? Also I would choose Tmo over ATT any day as long as I got coverage where I need it. I worked for ATT and can tell you that they really don't care about one customer. Tmo has done nothing but treat me like a king. Granted I do pay my bill on time every month and I have 2 lines going with unlimited text and web but its still nice. I also had a talk with the Tmo manager and he confirmed that they have no plans to go with data caps on smart phones. They will continue to throttle if you go over 10 gigs, but that's only fair.

My advice is to ditch that Epic as soon as you can.

Robert. its just the Epic.. upgrade to the Evo and all those issues disappear.
those issues are also well documented across the various mobile sites.

I just got rid of my Epic for the Evo and Im very happy.

Slow? mines faster than the Epic was.. and I never root my phones.

very very fast in everything it does..

I dunno if you had a defective unit or something was running and eating up all your resources but every Evo Ive played with has been super fast.

thats with 2.2 on it.

Now there is a bug that a few users have discovered that has to do with toggling 4g in an area with no or little coverage that will make the unit CHUG while it searches for coverage.
I have not run into that yet as Houston has 4G pretty much everywhere.

To be honest, I was planning planning to root the phone from the beginning so I could run Setcpu for battery life. Plus, I've played with plenty of stock EVO's that were more than satisfactory for my needs. Also, you should know I'm upgrading from this guy...... so I'll literally be delighted with anything at this point.

Yeah, I had 2 people from work that originally bought the Epic and returned it for the EVO.
The count is now up to 5 EVOs and they all seems happy.
- 5 iphone4 including mine but I'm the only one with T-mobile
- Countless of older iphones.(maybe 10)
- 3 original Droids.
- Maybe 6 various BB.
- 1 Vibrant.
The rest have dumbphones.

If swype is so amazing, then isn't hardware qwerty dead? I always though of it that way. If you could build a good enough software keyboard, then you don't need hardware keyboard.

Until the touch screen morphs raised buttons, that isn't going to happen.

Why is it so hard to understand that some people want a physical keyboard? Swype is great. Physical keyboards are great. iPhones are great. Midgets are great.

Just because one works well doesn't mean to others don't have a purpose.
