Which phone?! Galaxy S6/S7 or LG G4/G5

Do yourself a favor and get the Galaxy S7/S7 Edge. Much better battery (even better than the iPhone 6S according to most reviews!). The new Super AMOLED display is the best smartphone display in the industry. The 12MP camera is probably the best camera as well (better than the 16MP camera on the S6, and better than the 12MP camera on the iPhone 6S). It's not all about the MPs, it's about the sensor quality, pixel size, internal processing and sensor aperture, etc.

The Galaxy S6/S6 Edge's battery is piss poor.

The S7 dual focus is super fast too.

Most times I wish the Edge was just a normal 5.5" phone so I can see all of the screen instead of losing out on the side edges. Looks cool as hell but the distorted view is annoying after a while
If the Note 6 has all the same features as the S7, I'd would trade in my Edge for that.

Hmmm. I'm considering seeing what Verizon can offer (I'm on Straight Talk and am unhappy with the AT&T network on my phone and I can't use the Verizon network) and for me, it would be between:

Samsung Galaxy S7 (I'd rather have Edge version) -- LG G5 -- Droid Turbo 2

Seems like the S7 and Droid have better battery life and cameras, but I like that the G5 has a fingerprint sensor. I also prefer bigger (5.5" is nice) screens.

Both S7 and S7E have fingerprint sensors. In fact, all current flagships will.

Just picked up a brand new G5 for $500 on swappa today. Hopefully I end up loving this phone. So far, it's pretty amazing!

Agreed i'm not sold on the rounded edges. It seems to pick up glare and is kind of distracting when you're trying to watch videos. Also if I had it to do over I would have just bought a black phone instead of my gold platinum. Too much glare. Black phone has an all black bezel which is nice if you're trying to watch lots of video.

The only time the edge screen bothers me is that some of swiftkeys keys are over the edge of the curve.
It's not a problem with the Samsung keyboard as you can resize it, but the Samsung keyboard sucks compared to swiftkey.

This is the ONLY bad thing about my Note 3. The NFC just sucks - practically non-functional.

Thoughts on my G5 after a few days of using it:

Quick charge is awesome - the battery life isn't quite what it was on my G2 that it replaced, but the speed of a recharge makes it a wash, IMO.

Camera - a lot of people are calling the dual cameras a gimmick but I love it. Most phone pictures I take are within 3-8 feet anyway and the dual cameras work great to take a lot of real estate in that short of a distance. The quality is also clearly superior to my G2 - and the response when I click to capture an image is pretty snappy. It's still brand new so we'll see if it stays that way in 6months+

Interface - I don't like that there's no app folder. I just don't. They should've presented it as an option to use it or not. My apps are in a mess of folders now that I'm having difficulty organizing efficiently.

Looks - I don't like it when people rate a phone based on its looks. That said, as far as function, I really wish they'd kept the volume buttons on the back, with the power button. That was one of my favorite features of my G2

Audio - the speaker is pretty awesome, compared to the G2, it's much louder and you can actually hear "bass" from it. Unfortunately, certain types of music get distored at higher volume, but not excessively. The volume seems to be almost comparable to my Nvidia Shield K1, though at max volume is a bit less clear, which is to be expected given it has 1/2 as many speakers and they're smaller

Overall - Not a bad purchase for the $500 new I spent on it. I think I'm glad I went this route over the S7. I love Samsung products with the exception of their phones, starting with the disaster that was my Galaxy Nexus.

Thank you for your feedback! I will say this about the lack of an app drawer; I'd use Nova launcher (or whichever you prefer) as no stock launcher has ever made me as happy as Nova has. It is well worth checking out.

Oh! Forgot a couple of things. I thought the always on screen was a gimmick but I actually really like it. It shows the tiime and whichever notifications are in the status bar - handy if you've got something you're waiting for and there's something else triggering the flashing LED already.

I love the fingerprint reader on the back, it's great at instantly unlocking the phone as soon as I pick it up.
