Are you certain this person will want such a pen?

Also......$490+ for a pen???

Yeah, this.

My pen collection: A 10-pk of Bic pens from Walmart, plus various pens that were handed out either by sales reps or reps at career fairs back on campus. They work quite well.

Damn, you might as well get your friend some hookers and blow for those prices.

I agree, that much for a pen IS a bit  but I know they'll like it and it has to be special.

And not sure she'd appreciate the hookers and definitely wouldn't appreciate the blow.

Well, you apparently have more money than I ever had. I think the most expensive gift I've ever given was.....oh, I don't know, but it was less than $100. And that was for family. I don't remember the last time I bought a gift for a friend.

As such, well, I really don't spend money on things that are expensive just to look nice, so it just strikes me as an odd practice. I prefer to spend money to gain functionality. Function over form. But that's me.:)

Poverty stricken student actually. Normally I'm the same about spending money but this really needs to be a special gift.

If I ever got either of those, they are going straight to ebay. So I concur with the resale value posts.

Screw that Mont Blanc fountain pen. Get her one of the Etoile pens from them.

Meh...I prefer Waterman pens to Mont Blanc.

Mont Blanc makes very nice writing instruments, but IMO, they're over priced and don't fit my hands right.

I've owned several Waterman pens and they are a better tool for my hands.

(hell, Parker makes some dammed nice quality pens...for about $20...:D
