I bought both the Jrnada 525 and the Palm Vx from bestbuy... but I dunno which one to keep.

I've never really liked palm's special notation... but I really like the small size.

As for the jornada... I'm more of a fan of WinCE or whatever the hell that MS os is called. Besides, it's color, but then it doesn't last long.

You can answer this question better than anyone else, especially since you already have both. Figure out what your needs are and go from there. Do you need multimedia capability? Jornada. Or how about just a compact, simple organizer? Palm V.

I haven't opened either yet... that's why I'm asking.

Honestly, I put both of them on e*ay... hoping to make a few $$$...

personally, i like the simplicity of the palm. I don't need a PDA that will do color, play mp3s, do GPS, do my laundry, etc. I just need a simple organizer, and the palm does that nicely. In fact, I am perfectly happy with my obsolete palm IIIxe, which suits me just fine.

what about the special characters? aren't they annoying... or do you get used to them after a while?

the other thing that bothers me about the palm is the fact you cannot see what you're writing on that silly jot pad... with the jornada you can see what you're writing...

but again... rmblam mentions a good point... the battery on the palm lats ALOT longer than the stupid limited time you get with the HP... but then it's a real pain in teh ass to replace the battery, because the battery is nonstandard.

For real use, I have found the palm to be great. It is much much smaller. This will allow you to carry it in places you probably wouldn't want to take the Jornada (unless you have cargo pants with big pockets). The palm has a lot of free software that pretty much covers any business need. I don't even use the grafitti stuff all that much, I just bring up the on-screen keyboard and tap away. I might write out small messages that don't have many special characters.

Unless you really think you will use the xtra features of a CE device, go with the palm. I have had a PalmV for a couple of years, now am using a Ipaq, going back to the Palm. It works fast, the screen is easy to read indoors and out, and it does everything I need. I pull my organinzer out 30 -40 times a day, and use graffiti. The palm is great.
