Which PCI Express slot to plug Video Card in?

I was entertaining the thought of buying a sound card for my new setup but as I look at pictures of the motherboard (EVGA 132-BL-E758-A1), the only PCI Express X1 slot is right next to the top GPU slot. Since I don't have my parts yet I can't tell if a video card (XFX 4890) would overlap the X1 slot.

So would it really matter which slot I plug the video card into? I believe the third slot is only x8 so I suppose the second would work....just wondering if anyone else has done this. There's two regular PCI slots so ultimately it doesn't matter that much...more of a "just wondering." Thanks.

Well depending on all your hardware that need to coexist with the pci slots and what your actually putting in those slots both slot may be fine or may cause problems. You should you the pci slot you prefer and see if there any resource conflicts if not your fine. If problems try the other pci slot.

PCI Express x1 sound cards can be plugged into the x16 slots?

As for the other hardware, there's not going to be a whole lot in the system (see New Setup). I will probably expand on that in the future but for right now the only thing I have planned on going into the PCI slots is the video card.

*Edit* Did a little more reading and I see how it would work, the break in the x16 slot is the same as the x1. I just didn't want to go buy an x1 card and find out it doesn't work in the x16.
