You do the math. I'll give ya a hint - even if performance was identical you're getting more expensive parts for your money. And performance isn't the same - the i7 will crush the PhII (just look at any of the reviews). The GPU is easy to upgrade (either add a second 4850 or sell the 4850 and get a more powerful card, depending on what you play).
If you are not rendering, encoding or playing synthetic benchmarks look at 1650 x 1050 and higher resolution GAMING benches. The i7 costs far more expensive as a PLATFORM and systems do not run on chips alone. I'd do this kind of build for Phenom 2 - a single nice HD4870 1GB and a 790GX which costs under $600 for mobo+gpu+cpu+4gb rams! I guarantee you this combo will get you better frames than an i7 + HD4850 which costs a crapload more! Suggested bundle
