I am not sure if I should be glad he joined my party or scared that he joined my party.

Wait until there's a primary you want to vote in - for example if you want to have a say in who the democrat candidate for president is in '04 then register as a democrat. If you're in the middle but want to be an active voter you can just switch parties whenever you want to vote in a different primary. If you don't really want to vote in primaries, then register as an independent and avoid the junk mail.

Look at the facts. The Libertarian party is in step with the GOP on almost every important issue. The Dems are at odds with the GOP and Libertarians on those same issues. The Dems have been moving right for the last 10 or 15 years. The GOP hasn't wavered.

Try this test
  • My score:
    • Economic Left/Right: 5.12
      Authoritarian/Libertarian: -1.59

Congratulations on your citizenship.

For the Preliminaries don't sign up for any specific party. Do register to vote but go with Other/Undecided. This way, you will be sent party platform info on all parties. It is a good way to get informed and then you can choose which party you want to go with.

Good Luck! :)

not all states require you to claim a "party" when you register to vote , NY does, don't know about NJ

i liked the Libertarians until i recently heard there was a movement for them to join up with the Green Party (commies) and most Libertarians are isolationists (against the Iraq War)

so i am lost in outside space again. might have to start the "FoBoT for King Party" :p

I hate to say "I told you so" Germy, but I did try to tell you.....

Germy: So, I found a new place to live.

Fausto: Really? Where?

Germy: It's across town. Really nice space under this big rock.

Fausto: Dude. I know spaces under rocks are very energy-efficient and all, but aren't you going to be kinda isolated that way?

Germy: No way! I'll still get the paper and go out whenever the rock gets kicked over and stuff.

Fine, have it your way but don't say I didn't try to warn you.

And now three years later you had no idea about the "f*ck" thing.

signing up for a party is the easiest way to get lots of spam in your real mail box.
