Which P67 mobo are you getting/gotten

Presumably the EVO has the PLX chip because it supports 3 PCIE slots in a 16x, 8x, and 4x config. Haven't opened it yet so can't confirm.
I think Asus use the PLX chip to maintain full USB3 and Marvell SATA 6Gbps bandwidth, even when using Crossfire/SLI.

They call it TRUE USB3/SATA3, or something similar.

Any thoughts on the ASRock P67 Extreme4?

Seems like a fully featured board, 8 sata headers like the asus boards, plx chip like the asus deluxe board and ability to use 775/1155/1156 heatsinks. Wonder how it'll overclock though.

Doesn't seem to have it unfortunately 🙁 .. opened up the board today.

Thanks for checking.
I had a feeling it was only the Deluxe version that had the PLX chip, and it's a feature I must have. If the EVO had the PLX chip it would have saved me a few ££, so I guess i'll need to purchase the Deluxe version.

I won't be using Crossfire or SLI, but I will need the other X16 socket for a RAID card, and must maintain full USB3 bandwidth. The upmarket boards with the NF200 chip have to much latency, and the PLX chip only adds 140 nanoseconds latency, so I guess that will be the best option for me.

Asus now has the P67 motherboards on their website. Its hard for me to see the chips that the evo has on that board. They don't have the manuals up yet.

There are a lot of gigabyte boards for sale online but no Asus deluxe. I called my local Microcenter and was on hold for 15 minutes and just hung up. I'll call back tomorrow to see when and how they are going to sell the board for.

Fry's in Downer's Grove, IL had Asus P8P67 (regular, PRO & EVO) when I stopped by this afternoon. They also had 3 MSI P67 boards - their 45, 55 and 65.

Fry's should have a store in the Twin Cities area also. They are missing hundreds of thousands of potential customers here.

Any thoughts on the ASRock P67 Extreme4? I am particularly looking for a board that will have UEFI as well as Crossfire/SLI support, but I don't know if ponying up the extra $20-30 for the P8P67 Pro would be worth it here, as my budget is a bit limited.

I have my eyes on this board too and the Extreme 6 version, both have the new UEFI bios ,btw more info at their homepage on their new 1155 boards http://www.asrock.com/mb/index.asp?s=1155 .

Saw that Mem. Board looks amazing but i've heard horror stories about ASRock

Don't listen to horror stories, end of the day I have used motherboards from budget to high end,all very stable and no difference unless you look at features and pricing, obviously overclock varies depending on board and hardware in question.

ASRock is made by Asus. Yes sometimes you get a lemon but overall it's a good brand.

I've got my eye on the Asus P8P67 Pro. I'll also be looking at the low end models by Gigabyte & MSI since I don't need SLI support.

I thought Asus sold there stake in ASRock

I think they still are part of Asus unless anybody can confirm otherwise, end of the day Asrock are using quality capacitors like Asus and Japanese parts etc on their higher end boards ...you have to remember as well engineers come and go between all the motherboard companies out there,I don't know why anybody would not consider them, their reviews are pretty good in general.

You can argue over warranty but thats really not an argument ...I still got an old budget ECS board still going strong on a Linux PC,its beaten several other high end MSI,Epox boards and others that died over time that I have owned, end of the day your mileage varies regardless of what board you buy.

There are lot of people that don't like Asus,MSI and a few others I could meantion,it does not make the company or their boards bad.

The ASRock P67 Extreme4 certainly looks interesting, and I would think it will be cheaper than the Asus P8P67 Deluxe. One to watch when sites start selling official P67 boards.

It's maybe offtopic but Gigabyte H67MA-UD2H. 🙂

If I can trust the manual, it doesn't have UEFI even though beta bios supports booting from 3+ TB partition. Since I won't go SLI/Crossfire this board have everything I need (and more) except for more than 1 chassis fan connector.

I live about an hour away from Downer's Grove, and the P8P67 Pro was another board I was considering. Do you remember how much it costs?

Definately the gigabyte UD3p, looks like the UD4 which is cool and has the 12 phase power. Price is around $150 😀

I think it was between $180-190 Bass - it's been a few days so my memory is a bit fuzzy. I do remember it not being much more expensive than the price at SuperBiiz.com. Frys didn't have many units on the shelf so I'd suggest calling them before driving down.

giga ud4, asus p67pro or evo, or an MSI board.

asus is lowest on my list, had some RMA issues, and still have a bad taste in my mouth

I did end up purchasing it for ~$180 shipped at SuperBiiz last night after finding out that the MSRP was around $190 from the recently posted reviews, thanks anyway for the info though.

Now to see how long we will have to wait for the CPU's themselves.

Wow...the Professional version from Asrock is awesome! Think it's going to compete against the Big Boys from other mfrs.
