plan to build the following (as a matter of fact have already ordered and received some of the components)
asus a7v133
768 sdram pc133
2x ibm 60gxp 40 gigs
1,2 athlon(266)
sb 128 pci(recycling yeah!)
ricoh 7200a (20-10-40)
adaptec 2904cd + plextor 40plex
eizo f520 17"
tnt2ultra (recycle as well)
1394 card (dunno the manufaturer)

plan to work hard with photoshop 6, corel 9, director 8 and start to work (who knows?) with premiere 6 and dv editing

need advice on the os and other practical and/or important questions before I install the wholo lot.

thats a lot of ram you got there and i dont believe window 98 will handle it very well. i say go with win2k pro. i believe it will run everything you listed there...hardware and software. win2k is more stable then ME or 9x anyway.
 
agree with fobside here, win2k will the best os for u, as i know win 98 can not handle more than 512mb of ram
 
sounds like your pc is fit for win2k. your apps should run under 2k faster than any 9x system.
