I was asking about upgrading my ram recently, and based on the answers i got its my understanding that a better operating system will allow more effectiveness for getting more ram.

Ive been running 98se for a long time now, and just never saw a reason to upgrade. But id like to up the ddr ram on my comp to about 1024 and i was wondering which operating system would work the best for playing games with a g4 ti4200, athlon 1900 xp, and an asus a7v8x-x.

Any opinions are appreciated, thanks.

id go with winxp pro/home. any xp version is a lot better then win98se. you might experience a difference in the mouse sensitivity in games, but there is a registry fix for that, just search google.com

I would definately say go for XP. Good stability, good features and your computer is fast enough to run it well.

xp home
2k is substantially slower for games even when useless background programs are turned off. Heck 98se runs games faster than 2k
