My NEC Versa SX is giving me major headaches so I'm thinking of buying an operating system and reformatting the hd. Which operating system should I buy? It's 400 MHz with 6 gig hd and 256 megs of RAM. Using a router to share DSL with 2 other computers if that matters.

I have been using a Windows 98 SE upgrade copy but it just makes things worse. Lots of crashing and errors. What do you all recommend, where should I buy it and how much will it cost?

I agree with freebsddude, WinXP Pro. You can get it Here for about $145.00. (full oem version).

*I wouldn't recommend XP home; for the few extra $$$, the Pro version gives you a lot more features; especially networking and security.
