Which one you like more to take a look at games...

Anyone care to tell which one is your favorite site to look for games news and such... I usually take a look at gamespot...

gamespot is usually more fair.

usually. i wouldn't buy most games without reading two or three reviews. something that ruins the game for me might not even get mentioned in some reviews.

That's why there's Metacritic.

Gamespot here as well. I dont care for IGN reviews. I do read what some of the members/users that post there say from time to time about a game but thats about it.

I always check metacritic first. Then you can bounce to a review that you want to read.

I use gamespot, but mostly just to check out new updates on games that are coming out. I use it for reviews too but I read other sites as well if I'm considering buying a game.

I usually wait for a couple poor souls on these and other forums to be the guinea pig. Generally that will give me an idea of what I should/shouldn't buy.

Giant Bomb.

I think IGN and Gamespot have been heavily tainted by the taste of advertising dollars, you don't have to look much further than the 9 they gave ODST for their "early review" clicks on IGN.

This shouldn't even be a question.

You're telling me you would rather go to Metacritic than Gamespot for news on Assassin's Creed 2 (just an example)? Seems like Gamespot is the clear winner to me.

edit: forgot this was PC Gaming, but my point still stands.

hm... sounds like they sell them selves out...

I used to like gamespot but it has been less critical in recent years. I usually check gamerankings and gamefaqs. Basically any site that gave farcry 2 a rating over 2 sucks. Oddly only two sites gave farcry 2 a poor rating; they all sucks 🙂 Bizare; far cry 2 is one of the few games (user score 5.5) where user score is radically below publishers scores (8.5).

I go to Metacritic and then read the reviews from there. I honestly don't care about pre-release hype so I don't bother with "news" on upcoming games.

I usually go to metacritic. I like www.game-over.net too. They seem to not give out favorable reviews unless the game really deserves it. They don't typically give out high scores like they're giving away candy.

Giant bomb. I originally was only interested in them because of the controversy, but they surprised me. They're the only gaming site besides penny arcade that I take at face value.

I haven't even visited gamespot since the Gerstmann affair, but they were declining long before that. Overall IGN is improved from the PS2 days but their reviews are still 80% terrible.

I used to be big on 1up but they're completely off the radar now. Eventually I realized I wasn't learning anything from their reviews.
