reading from my sig, im really considering in getting a new power supply cuz im gettin a 11.5 on my raidmax 500w psu, i might consider just gettin a 480 to 460w psu a high quality one? but I JUS DONT KNOW WHICH BRAND!!! ARGHH!!!! right now im really considering getting thermaltake or fortron,

when i look for a psu, i make sure they are 24 pin for my dfi ut250gb socket 754 amd64 board right? and their efficency should be 68-70% and its pfc active? are these the things to look out for?

OCZ or Enermax are the only real choices short of PCP&C and Zippy.

Antec's amperage is not sufficient anymore, they have gotten behind the times. Also the adjustable rails on the OCZ are nice if you don't really want to void your warranty soldering.

the thermaltake is good (srry for the blank post), i know since i own one.

its very solid and stable. (12v drops to 11.95 in worst case, 5v down to 4.999), the fan controller is good too, virtually silent at low speed, but VERY loud at top speed.

It's made by Channel Well. You've probably never heard of them before either, but they're responsible for the guts of a lot of really nice PSUs.

Actually, YOU are behind the times:

Antec True430: 26A
OCZ Powerstream420: 30A

26A on the 12v rail is more than enough.

Actually I'm well aware that Antec has upped their amperages from their old models. The 480w used to only have 22A, making it more of a low end supply. These days they are merely average and overpriced.

And please don't link me to tom's hardware guide.

with 18A you'll be lucky to have your 12v rail get above 11.8v or so on an A64 setup.

it should handle your rig. however it might be very loud, depending on how well your system is cooled. it worked fine for my rig, but that doesn't mean i promise you it will work fine for yours.

so when i find a good psu, they must have sumtn higher than a 20a on the 12v? and the pfc is suppose to be active? man im lookin at most of the 70-80 dollar ones and the 12v are all around 18a

for $3 more i'd take the enermax and the 7 extra amps, unless you want to be extremely neat with your wires.
