Which one of these do ya like better? (Sony HTiB)

I'm not a fan of any HTiB but some people have specific needs and don't want big box's in the living room.

I'd take the 2nd one if I had to pick.

Exactly, while i would love seperate components, we really just don't have the room in our small 2-bedroom townhouse... I know im sacrificing SQ for size, but we dont have too much of a choice 🙂

The 2nd one seems nice w/ the 8" sub, but the first has dual 6.3" (simular to my klipsch 4.1's which sure as hell pound fairly well)

I've heard the 1st ones (FR1) at CC and they sound excellent, but i like the tall speakers on the 2nd 😀

used to work at CC, almost 6 months ago now actually

EDIT: n/m looks like i was incorrect on the 2nd one, the sub is only Speaker Unit : Subwoofer Driver Size 6 1/4"

, Sony products are junk, and to approximate their customer support, dress up in a large deer suit and roam the woods during hunting season...

I dont have room for the Onkyo. Im gonna need the dvd player integrated... I have a very small space to put this in.

maybe save your money?

Start out with a decent receiver and two speakers with a sub. would be much better than what you're looking at.

I'm being serious. Once you get this system you'll want more.

No room in the entertainment center, and due to the small size of my room, the couch (which is only 6 or so feet from the tv) is pressed up against the back wall. I just dont have room for any speakers other than a mini/micro system.

Ok well i was able to move some stuff around and adjust the shelves... I "should" be able to squeeze that Onkyo 570 with a really slim dvd player on top of it....

However, is that reciever any good?

Hmm, well looks like i might have a problem with the Onkyo.... I have two devices i need to hook up via digital inputs (HD DVR & Dvd Player). The HD DVR is optical only, since i havent purchased a dvd player yet, im assuming i can get one with digital coax.... Could i hook one up to each on the Onkyo?

Yes you can hook up one of each into that Onkyo. You must have one tiny arse space to fit that in to only be able to fit in a slimline DVD player. I have my XBox, PSTwo, GameCube, Harman Kardon AVR-230, Sharp MD-R3, Samsung 5 disc DVD changer, Dish DVR along with the TV in a space that takes up a total of about 6 & a half feet.

Btw you do realize that by going with a lower priced HTIB solution you are eliminating the ability pretty much to add a good bit to it at some point at time, right? None of the ones that you're looking at (nor the one I suggested) have component video or s-video passthroughs on them. And since you're hooking up an HDTV unit to it this would be critical. It might be a better idea to save up your money and get a decent Onkyo, Harman Kardon, Yamaha, NAD, etc. receiver and some speakers to go with it. That way you have room to expand further down the road. But if you really want it now your best bet would be the Onkyo I linked to in the previous post.

Well to be honest, i dunno what else i would ever need.....

My HD DVR is connected via HDMI to the TV (optical audio would go into the reciever)
DVD Player will be connected via Component to the TV (coax audio would go to the reciever)
Gamecube is currently hooked in via S-Video (possible Xbox in the near future will be Component) with audio on both into the standard analog audio jacks....

Why would i need to use the reciever to pass through for video? I have a nice learning remote so multiple remotes wouldnt be a prob.

Goin over to CC, Bestbuy & Sound Advice to listen to all that my ears can handle 😀
