Hi Friends

Confused between ATI Mobility Radeon™ HD 5470 & Nvidia GeForce GT 230M.
which is good for Dell studio 15 with a config. of

Core i5-430M
4GB RAM
500GB (7200 RPM) HD
15.6 " Full HD(1080p)WLED (1920 x 1080)Display with TrueLife™
Genuine Windows® 7 Home Premium 64bit (English)

Your valuable suggestions will be highly appreciated...
Thanx in advance

230m is probably twice as fast, if not faster. Since it's a Dell though, expect either to have DDR2. Also, Dell likes to underclock their GPU's considerably. I owned an Inspiron with a 8600 gt and a studio 17 with a 3650. Neither were clocked anything near what Nvidia/ATI had listed in their specs. In both cases I could overclock the GPU by 200 mhz without much of a rise in GPU temps.

For a comparison. the 8600 GT i had seemed faster than the 3650 I had. the 8600 has 32 shaders, the 230m has 48. the 3650 had 120 shaders, and the 5470 only has 80.

the 5470 might be more power efficient, and it does support DX11, but I can't imagine it actually being able to play any DX11 games worth a damn.

You won't notice much of a difference between those 2 CPU's really. The GPU will be the bottleneck.

Not tryin to shit in your cereal or anything, but you'll probably be pretty disappointed with the 5470. 80 shaders is pretty skimpy. Their newest desktop cards have as many as 1600.

What games are you planning on playing with it?

Dell changes their specs too often. For a while their studio 15's had 4650's as an option, they're about 4x better than the 5470.

If you're really wanting to play some games, id shop around a little more. Try looking at Asus maybe. Dell has some really good warranty options though. I got the Complete Care warranty with my inspiron 17 inch a couple years ago, and they recently sent the laptop in my sig as a replacement after i dropped it.
