i would like to buy a external hard drive (250GB+) for my notebook, whats the best choice?
please give some suggestions, thanks a lot!

but...

Upgrading to a new standard makes no difference?
The increased bandwidth makes no difference?
The smaller cables makes no difference?

Can you give a good reason to get the UDMA over the SATA?

You obiously misunderstood me, or thought about it too much. By me saying it makes no difference, it doesn't because he isn't using this HD in the laptop, but externally. Cable size won't matter, bandwidth wont either, but yes new standard does, if he decided to upgrade the HD in the external case. Get it?
