The Sales People at the Apple Store and Verizon tell you all sorts of things to make a sale- "Hook them and Cook them" I have indeed gone and played with both phones, I was looking for a Consumer that may have had similar experience, and was will to share that experience thats all.... Im sorry if I did something wrong, it was not meant to offend anyone.

I want to make a Solid Purchase that will work out correctly for me. With Regards to AT&T's coverage, according to the maps, I couldnt ask for anything better- It appears or so my friends tell me that part of the reason my Blackberry is having trouble is because of the Bandwiith issue the IPhones and I Pads are causing on AT&T, they also give Priority to Network tuning to Apple Products above the other products.
Thank you-

What?! Not likely.

Oh the iPhones coming to Verizon some time in 2011, I'm sure every day the CEO of Verizon kicks himself for rejecting Apples initial offer to be the exclusive carrier for it. Granted at the time he had no idea that it would be the mega success it's turned out to be. So his choice probably seemed good at the time. I would imagine had the iPhone came out on Verizon instead of AT&T we would have seen the Moto Droid/X/2 all on AT&T and not verizon.

I don't think anyone would of thought the iPhone would be a success. I still remember the very first day Steve Ballmer said that it had no chance to gain any marketshare and that the Moto Q was a perfect alternative.

Boy oh how wrong he was. I don't think we would have such a full featured all screen touch interface like we do now if it wasn't for the iPhone in 2007.

If you make a timeline of the phones you own from 2000 - 2010, I bet most timelines have a significant jump in technology around year 2007.

Why? AT&T got (and is getting) raped by Apple.

Verizon is still #1, while the iPhone's success has allowed Verizon to sell tons of their own high-priced data plans *without paying Apple a dime*. The company has successfully hitched a free ride on the consumer smartphone explosion that Apple helped create.

Verizon could have had the single best selling phone in the US, PLUS all the Android handsets they currently sell. To say Apple is raping AT&T, well AT&T's making money hand over fist. Do you think Motorola doesn't ask for shit for Verizon to sell their Droid phones? If I was Verizon I would chose all my current phones + iPhones over all my current phones - iPhones any day of the week. This is why the week the exclusive contract with AT&T is over there'll be a Verizon iPhone announcement, mark my words.

Help,

Need someone to help me in making a decision, I am currently on AT&T with a Blackberry 9700, thats giving me all sorts of problems and want to switch to either the Motorola Droid X or the New Apple I-PHone 4- I have already looked at the In depth reviews for both phones on Anandtech, but was hopeful to find some folks that have hands on experience with the IP4 and the Droid X-
I am hopeful that once FROYO 2.2 is out, Anandtech will do a blow for blow comparison between the 2 phones.
I have seen both phones, Its hard to decide, one of the "Turn Offs" is Steve Jobs and the Death Grip Restrictions they have with the IPhone, No Flash, Jobs has got a "Burr up his butt against Adobe" so what do you do? you punish all the I Phone Users, No Flash-
Both Phones are absolutely Breathtaking, Gorgeous and state of the art- AT&T is very difficult to deal with, actually Miserable is a more suitable word. If you run Coverage Maps my zip is 43209 in Columbus Ohio you'll see, according to the maps there should not be any problems... what do I have to say to the maps? Bah...What a bunch of Hooey-
Who knows, Maybe Anand will see this post and step in and help guide me.
A good example: the Verizon Sales Person was telling me that with the Droid X you can get Navigation, Turn By Turn thats Razor Accurate and for free! With Apple the only thing free is "Headache"-
Another- I was told that with the Droid X, the phone can be "Unlocked" with a call to the vendor through your provider at no charge- with Apple, if you unlock your IPhone you get threats from Apple-
I have heard that if you have problems with a phone, Verizon is friendly to deal with, Not so at AT&T, more like your dealing with Gansters.
Any help or Guidance would be appreciated, also can the Droid X be used in Europe or the Middle East (Israel)-
I added this based on one of the Comments made regarding screen size- There both Large Screens, while the Retina Display of the IP4 would make anyone "Melt" the Droix X Display is also Gorgeous to say the least- I recently had eye surgery, I had my Cataracts repaired, im seeing 20/15, 20/10 uncorrected, the displays are absolutely breathtaking on both. I think my criteria is I want a Fast, Stable Smart Phone, not a Flaky Phone, like my Blackberry 9700, (not throwing darts at BB), I think its the network and thats its tweaked for Apple as a primary consideration in front of all the other phones they deal with)

Thank you,

go with droid x no question asked

Exactly. Verizon has managed to remain #1 without the iPhone, and they are poised to grow even larger once Apple comes to THEM with a CDMA handset.

AT&T, on the other hand, bore the brunt of the smartphone data explosion and their customer satisfaction took a damaging blow. The exodus of users to Verizon will be felt on Wall Street. The icing on this shit-stained cake is the fact that AT&T has the WEAKEST lineup of Android phones of any major US carrier (and Verizon has the strongest). Once the iPhone is on Verizon, Big Red will be a one-stop-shop for anyone shopping for a smartphone.

I can't imagine how Verizon would in any way want their roles reversed with AT&T right now.

ATT screwed up with the iPhone. They have all of these new iPhone subscribers, but their CS is shit and their network is crappy.

If ATT was a great carrier they wouldn't have to worry about their iPhone users ditching them for Verizon.

Interestingly enough, I have both phones in my possession right now. I won't do a full comparison until Verizon pushes Froyo to my Droid X, which should have happened already according to reports across the intarwebs.

Unlike most Android phones, the Droid X can pull the update without waiting for a push as soon as it's available. Check for the update and you'll almost certainly get it.

I've been trying to "pull" it for the last two days; nada. I wish someone would just make the official update.zip available.

Are you completely stock on the X? I read about people not being able to get the update if they weren't stock.

^ Yep must be 100% stock to get update. If you are on the leaked 2.2 you need to wait for the update.zip file to be made which should be out sometime soon.
