Which of these two systems to get?

OK, I've been looking into this to the point of having no clue as to what to get. I think I've killed the fun of this, but I still need to upgrade the system I use at work. If I were building for myself, with my own money, it would be different. As it is, at work, we are a non-profit and have a very limited budjet. I've put together an AMD and an Intel system that I think would work. The computer will mostly be used for Photoshop and Dreamweaver creations and scanning/archiving original art pieces.

With the AMD build I think I save about $100 or so.

My budget right around $500.

This will be the last time I ask for opinions on this particular subject, so please help me out and give me some assurance that I'm spending my companies money wisely! I would really appreciate it!!!

99.99% percent of the people here will say AMD 😛 Unless you're doing very heavy multitasking, I'd say go with the Ahlon 64. Although you should think about swapping out that A8V Deluxe for an A8N Deluxe. The nForce4 Ultra chipset is better than that VIA chipset.

Sweet... thanks for the input!

I will definately do that!

OK, only one other question now... really, only one 🙂

If I go with the A8N Mobo what video card do you suggest?

If I went with the A8V then I could use the old card in this box, but with the A8N I'll need a PCI-E card.

I don't need anything too fancy, as I won't be using this system for games

Thanks!

What's your current card? (it might not be worth upgrading)

Some good options for videocards include
6600gt
X800
X800XL
6800gt

It pretty much just depends on your budget.

EDIT: I'm an idiot, I didn't see the part about no games.

If your current card is working for you, I'd say get a motherboard that will allow you to continue to use it.

Yeah, the current card works. It's a GForce2 (haha.... still working). I may just go ahead and geat the pci-e board and an in-expensive vid card. PCI-E seems to be the wave of the future anyway.... 🙂

MSI X300SE 128MB is decent. It has DVI for around 50$. It should defintily be enough for your needs even though you could go cheaper if you wanted 2.
