Again, the only thing that really matters is what we call swept air.
That is the surface area of the driver (measured as if it were a flat circle rather than a cone)
times the V-Max (how far in and out it moves)
The bigger the number of the product, the better.

aside from sounding like a retard, how would you go about calculating those numbers for each product ??? are the numbers listed ??? or is it something that you would actually have to take apart the sub...take measurements...and so forth ???

thanks for the insight

It's usually called displacement, is it not?

yes...in car engine blocks.
For speakers, I have always heard "swept air." but I could have just not noticed folks calling it displacement.

Well, you can probably find the v-max on a product spec sheet.
And, you can probably find the surface area using the diameter specs.
If you can't get the exact diameter, then for the Infinity use 11" so Pi R squared would be (3.1415926)x(5.5")x (5.5")
For the Polk 9" times 2, so [(3.1415926)x(4.5")x (4.5")] x 2

Ideally: Excursion

Displacement is at least a volume, which is what you are looking for.

Excursion is linear, so the units are wrong since it does not include the surface area.

Polk is considered a better brand by audio snobs although I have some Infinity speakers that are quite good. My subwoofer is Cerwin Vega and has kicked butt for years.

Wanna have a party? Hook up a NAD amp to a Cervin Vega sub and some satellite speakers... the airport will call and ask you to keep it down! :D

They're consistently rated by the professional magazines as some of the best subs in the market.

Whatever SVS sub you can afford, GET IT! .......Rest assured that any of their models can compete with any sub 3-6x thier price. Their $750 subs compete $3000+ subs, fyi.
