Which of these two Dell's are better ?

Hi
I been out of the computer world for a while and am back in. I have two systems that were given to me because people didnt want to pay for upgrades, buying Windows 7 and they opted for new systems.

System 1.
Dell Dimension 9200
Intel Core 2 4400@2.00 Ghz
500 gig Sata H.D.
4 gigs of ram PC6400
GForce 8300 GS
8 USB ports
Soundblaster Audigy 2

System 2
Dell Vostro 420
Intel Core 2 Quad Q8200@2.33 Ghz
250 gig Sata H.D.
2 gigs of ram PC6400
ATI HD3450
10 USB ports
1 ESata port
Integrated Sound.

I did a check using Windows Upgrade Advisor and the first system needs no upgrades.
On the Second system, I would have to upgrade to a new soundcard and it also said that the integrated Realteck NIC card may not work.

So, which system is better and if you say the second one, is it worth upgrading a sound card and NIC card ?

Thank you

Yeah I don't know what you are trying to do but I would take second system and upgrade ram and hard drive space.

"Better" for doing what?

I plan on keeping one and selling the other. I have an old Dell Dimension 3000 and want to keep the better of the two systems and upgrade to Windows 7 (been using XP on my current Dimension 3000).
Also, if I keep the second system with the 2 gigs of ram, how much should I upgrade to for Windows 7 Home edition ?

Windows 7 plays well with tons and tons of hardware.
I doubt that you'd have any problems with either of those systems.

Windows 7 is doing very well on my old Dell Dimension 370.

For a Windows7 OS upgrade?

I'd recommend swapping hardware between the 2. That would require your installing drivers but you won't have to do any upgrades then.
So just swap ram and hard drive and also take the sound card from the Dimension if the integrated doesn't work on the Vostro. Vostros are a newer line and Win 7 works well with hardware in general so I wouldn't be surprised if the NIC and audio do work. One way to check is to look up the chip # and do a search online to see if there are win 7 drivers or if anyone else has gotten them to work with 7.

Keep system #2. Take 2GBs of ram out of system #1 and put it in system #2. Swap the hard drives.
